  • Wow! Read the review. 3c content Wow! Read the review. 3c content
I am a long time trumpet player who got put on the sidelines 5 years ago from a serious illness and I've just started playing a few weeks ago. My mouthpiece collection over the years has around 50 mouthpieces in it of various brands and sizes. I have Bach, Schilke, Monette, GR, Karl Hammond, custom pieces from Kanstul and many others. If you know mouthpieces you know the aforementioned are not inexpensive. But I saw these EXTRA heavy mouthpiece on Amazon for interestingly low prices and I was intrigued. In the photograph you can see three similar mouthpieces: Far left Monette B3, cost years ago $200. Middle a generic 3c whiich I bought years ago on Amazon, which should be similar if not exact from sellers like MxFans or Eastrock. Far right is the extra heavy 3c from MxFans. I have to believe that Eastrock is the same with a little different stamping and boxes. At this time until I determine otherwise I will be using the 2 generic 3c mp's. I first ordered the 1.5c size and was very impressed at the quality, rivaling the manufacturing of $200+ mouthpieces in that regard. Perfectly machined, and seemingly well plated. The 1.5c seemed a little large as my go-to rim size has been a GR 66 rim. But the 1.5 played really well. I hadn't seen the super-heavy version in a 3c, until I stumbled on it 2 days ago. So I ordered it and it came today. I didn't know what to expect with the 3c. But I was pleasantly surprised. As I liked the 1.5c, I liked the 3c even better! The sound was warm, focused and even throughout the registers up to C above the staff. The rim is very comfortable, with softer rim edges that you will find on some mouthpieces. The WIDTH of the rim itself is a bit on the narrow side, and may (or may not) allow for less endurance. I don't know. I'm not there yet. The cup is a bit more "funnel" like than "bowl" like than you would see in a standard 3c (and even more "funnel" in the 1.5c). I have only had these extra-heavy mouthpieces for a few days, but I'm really impressed. I can afford to keep both and intended to keep the 1.5c, until today. I still may keep it. It's cheap enough. For newer players I don't know that I'd recommend these heavy weight mp's. But with Amazon's return policy, it might be a good inexpensive experiment for developed high schoolers, college players and beyond. Us trumpet geeks often end up with far too many mouthpieces. But if you're curious, it might be worth a try. I'm glad that I've tried them and feel a little bad that my $200 mouthpieces may end up on my mouthpiece rack. One thing that I might mention is that if you are a beginner or even a low intermediate player I would recommend going with a brand name mouthpiece like Bach or Yamaha, especially if you can audition moutpieces side by side, though CNC machining makes each mouthpiece of a given size less unique and each brand/size should be idential, mp to mp. One more thing... I've been testing these mouthpieces exclusively on my Schilke B1 trumpet, and still have to test them on my Bach 37, Bach 229 and '69 Getzen Eterna trumpets. ... show more

  • Heavy and well worth the money
The quality of this product is awesome and makes my son's trumpet sound awesome. He was afraid at first that it wouldn't fit but it fits like a glove.

  • Insane Sexy Mouthpiece!
This mouthpiece is insane for the value! It's pretty heavy which is expected. Plays pretty much anything you like. It is super pretty and a show stopper. I have showed this to my friends and family and they are all like what?? For comparison I was playing on a bach 3C. The only thing is that the fit is off just barely so it's not snug inside the leadpipe. Don't let that turn you off though, it is still 100% functional and for the price it is something that everyone should have in their collection. It is also tunable that way but I would look up the gap for trumpet online. Anyways, the cup is deeper I feel just barely a little bit too from my bach 3C. It really does clean up your tone though. The lows I love, but the highs are alright. All gloss mouthpiece and it feels great on the lips. I think you should try it and if you like it, you might make the switch. I might make the switch, I don't know yet.110% recommend and to try it for $20 I think it is pretty mind blowing. Trust me give it a go. It will be worth it and if you don't like it either return it or sell it because if you sell it, that's a hot commodity for $20. ... show more

  • love the feel on lips
If you're a wet player you'll love the feel on your lips, slides like warm butter, and surprising enough easily hit the highs due to the thin spout, but don't drop it, it will bend, def would recommend to Trump.

  • Great bang for the buck
I read some reviews that made me give this mouthpiece a try and I'm glad I did. It's heavy...really heavy but don't let this throw you off. It truly made a difference in how I am able to attack notes. This may sound weird but even the high notes seem to come easier. If there's one negative, it would be that intonation seemed off and I have to make a slight adjustment to the slide. For the price and the results, this will be my go to MP for sometime. ... show more

  • Excellent choice for bright, powerful tones! Great Value.
This is a great value for the money spent. It's got a bright tone and lots of heft. Good for mariachi, broadway, popular movie tunes, and even some classical music that requires projection and brightness. Gold plating feels good on the lips. Great buy for $20!

  • Poor sound quality.
This mouthpiece is not a good product. Looks good but produces poor sound quality. Definitely not for beginners.
