Well, Im doing a project in the backyard and needed a tarp to cover it during a upcoming rain storm. Based on the reviews I decided on this one. Well, that was a mistake. We just opened it up and discovered numerous holes in it and areas where the material was so thin you could almost see through it. See my attached pics. The pics represent different holes. There were others but you get the idea. I realize sometimes products are defective, so maybe I just got one. But this tarp is super thin, not sure it would hold up in any type of wind at all. We needed to move a wood shop out of state and decided to have these tarps delivered to the new site prior to the move. We were aware we would arrive late and needed these tarps to protect the equipment for a week or so as we set the shop back up. We arrived at 1am in wind driven rain to find these thin, flimsy, pin hole filled, nearly transparent tarps waiting for us. I would measure the thickness with a micrometer if I had it with me, but if this tarp is thicker than 2mil I would be shocked. I have a cheap dollar store 3x3 blue tarp and it says 2mil on the package and is identical to this tarp except for the color. Amazon should do something about this false advertising there is no way on earth this tarp is 5mil. Save your money and by another brand, or you will be disappointed. ... show more

Product is smaller than stated on packaging. Product is very thin and had some hairline tears in the material. I am only using this item to protect my clothes from dirt, sand, etc at beach. Buy at own risk. Would not recommend.

Served its purpose. The tarp was good for the price. The brads are solid and the stitching is secure. My only complaint is that it's not as thick as I hoped. I haven't used it very long so we'll see how it holds up. Update 2/10/2020: Tarp does not hold up well. Material faded after just a month of exposure. Tarp developed a rip as material weakened allowing water to seep in. After just a couple months, the tarp no longer serves its purpose. ... show more

It seems that this is half the thickness than most tarps I have ever seen. It is already chipping away and I anticipate having to replace it by December (It is about a month old and we are in July) Update: (March 15, 2022) I finally had to replace it - I stand by my original 3 stars. The price is good for what you are getting, depending on what you are using it for. Mine was inside a screened patio separating the outside from the inside. I have enclosed a picture showing the wear and tear. What you see is the side that was on the shaded side, which is now paper-thin and see-through. Grommets are not reinforced, under practical wind tension the grommets shear out. The grummets will also shear if sufficient water is retained on the surface of the tarp. Its leak resistant, far from leak proof. The coverage area is sufficient for localized roof protection, but preferably deploy when there's no wind.     • Strong, durable and lots of bang for your buck

We bought this tarp to cover our pool while we had very heavy overhanging branches cut from big oaks and the pool covers were just too much. This tarp withstood these branches and didn't even tear. This was recommended by our roofing company who also uses them.
