The side nippers and sandpaper included with this 10 piece file set work well for use on plastics, which is what I've been using them for, but the files themselves I find too coarse and would not recommend for plastics. The coarseness of the files is roughly on par with that of a manicure file, like the sort you would use on your finger and toe nails. I note that the product page does not name plastics as a suitable material, no harm in that as I have still found this set to be excellent value for the aforementioned nippers and fine grit paper alone. If you bought those separate their value would exceed the value of this set, so even though I won't be using the files for my needs I still recommend this set for its value. ... show more

Although this set is more on the expensive side compared to the other sets, this was perfect. With 10 different options of needle sizes and shapes, this is ideal for crafty individuals. I love clay, and plastic modeling and these told were so delicate that can assist with the perfect details). As everyone should be warned, be careful with the needles because they are rather fragile, however, they haven't broken yet. Thank Goodness! Compared to other brands some break easily, but these are durable. I am excited to put them to further use, but for pottery and sculptures, these were great for the dramatic or subtle details. And I am excited to put the use of these towards jewelry making, it's very convenient to use the metal cutter! Either way this product is fantastic! I got these files to clean up prints from my 3d printer. The variety of file shapes in this set makes it easy to find the right one, no matter the shape of the part. I'm working with plastic so it's a light-duty application but the files are quite sharp and make very quick work of any irregularities on the parts. The roll-up plastic storage pouch is handy for storing and carrying the files, but I don't think I'll risk throwing it into my big toolbox. The bonus flush cutter is solid and a nice addition - it's perfect to snipping ends off the filament and cleaning up larger defects. ... show more

This files have already come in very handy when working on smoothing out 3d prints. The sizes are perfect to get in to the small nooks and crannies of figure prints etc. Have hold up incredibly well so far, and are course enough to remove a lot of material in one go. I am in love with these files already. My first ever soldering project turned out a little messy and these files helped me clean up in tight spaces easily. They came in handy for cleaning up the edges of my “bricks” cut from egg carton and glued to gator board. They file wood beautifully as well. They really are for finer details, though, so if you need to work big you might need something larger. The snips look great. No gaps, and they spring back open nicely. Again, for finer details. This set is fantastic! I bought it for a Christmas Plaque I'm making where I started with larger files and these ones are great for shaping the areas with very small details. I wasn't sure what to think when I bought them because I have only ever used large files, but these are so convenient and high quality with strong durability. I'm so glad that I decided to get them! I purchased specifically for knife and triangle shapes, but in fact none of the files have those profiles. They all look like varieties of the flat profile. They're also a rather coarse grit with limited use for model building. For some reason it's hard to find finer grits in needle file sets.
