We've not had any "brown-outs" since the product was installed, so I can't comment on how they might affect the surge protection. What I can say is the product is working fine after installation, and I've not had any issues with charging the connected devices. The protector IS NOT warm to the touch, so it seems to be handling all the device requirements well. All sockets and USB ports work. While the use, likes, and dislikes are pretty self-explanatory, I wonder if it might be a better, more robust product if it used both outputs of the original socket and split the outputs in a different manor?

Works fine and is versatile, but it's not for charging phones. It steps the voltage down at the USB ports too much for my Samsung phone, taking too long to charge my phone. I'll charge things like MP3 players that don't need a quick charge, but phones I plug in using the transformer that came with the phone. The positions of the plugs are convenient. Just remember you're really only using one outlet. DON'T USE IT for multiple high voltage appliances (like toaster ovens and microwaves) at the same time as that would create a fire hazard.

I just installed them but so far so good. The are to replace the bulky extension cords that I could only plug in a couple of things. Most of the items I needed to plug in had the oversized plugs and it limited the items to connect. I was looking at another extension cord to allow for more items but saw these and they made a lot more sense. Outlets are spaced to allow for the larger plugs then there are regular saved outlets along the sides plus 4 USB outlets. Fits all the sewing machine stuff and a lot more.
