    • Be careful with this product. Buyers be ware.
Please ensure you test this in an alternate power source before plugging into your house. Plugged one of the 4 I purchased and blew out something in my house. Didn’t trip the breaker and now have an electrician coming to repair whatever is broken. Not sure how much it will cost me to actually repair the damage to my house. None of the plugs work in my kitchen. Breaker is working and all of the GCFI have been checked. Be ware. The company started acting like they were going to reimburse me for my damage and then ghosted me. Said they couldn’t reimburse on amazing and gave me an email to contact. Nothing. Absolutely under no circumstance should you buy these unless you have a plan to replace your outlets. Blew an outlet and tripped a breaker that required it to be replaced. Not worth the hassle. When I plugged it the device and wanted to connect my electronic devices, I got a spark and the device. The device immediately broke when I tried to use it. You can see the black burn from the spark in the image. Update: The spark didn't only cause the device itself to break, but it also caused my brand new floor lamp to break. There never seem to to be enough outlets. NEC (National Electric Code) requires one every 15 linear fete of wall, yet new devices - one just has to have, lol - are getting ever lower in electrical power requirements and the even multi-port USB chargers are having a hard time keeping up. And so more and more unsightly proliferations of both wall outlet extensions with multi-port chargers spawn, eventually becoming too heavy and sticking out too far, falling off the wall socket. The TROND extender is a smart design - with most power supply AC cords being 2-prong, even the long heavy 4+ port USB wall chargers, it provides only one 3-prong socket on it's face, while providing another four 2-prong sockets, one on each side. A smart, compact - 2.16" SQ x 1.21"THK - design because side mounted USB chargers can only cantilever themselves out off the socket, not with the thickness at 1.21". Unlike the horizontal extenders that run flat against the wall merely cumulatively add up the cantilevering moment from the weight of each device, the TROND extender not only ensures the extra sockets are on the side, but it's low profile of ensures that even heavy chargers aren't too far off the face of the wall, so the moment forces that eventually lever the extender out off the wall socket are minimized. Since they're one on each side, one can, with some thought, balance the weight. And of course, like many other extenders, TROND's ensures that, while you can use all five sockets, UL-listed of the full 15A capacity, the alignment of it's own 3-prongs is such that you can only use the upper of the two vertically stacked standard wall socket, there by ensuring if you need to use the bottom one for a 3-prong plug, the bottom side 2-pring socket is blocked, and that lowers the number of, and thus, limits the the power draw from the extender when utilized. After all, it's a mostly unknown / forgotten fact that those 15 amps are for BOTH sockets on the wall plate. Believe me, I've seen enough blackened burnt out wall sockets where each outlet leads to a 6-socket power strip - I'll let you do the math. The only downside I can foresee, not having actually encountered. Yet. Is that the slimness of the extender may preclude many wall chargers that need the 2-prong side sockets 1/8~14" further off the wall Another thing to note - this is not an extender for travel, the prongs neither fold nor retract. ... show more
