Disappointed that this MTM ACR12-72 arrived with the lid completely detached from the crate itself. The back of the lid was slightly bent and it took me about half an hour to assemble the unit properly. The entirety of the unit should have been boxed and delivered in one piece as other in MTM's ACR line have been. Someone, somewhere, in the finger-pointing department of a large company's quality control unit will most probably have already eaten the bricks that will have to be passed at some point, so I'll just leave it at that. Addendum: I found MTM's storage box's Achilles Heel. Though I can attach padlocks to the FRONT of the box using the provided holes, the hinges at the BACK of the box can be pried apart using a flathead screw driver thus opening it and providing no security. A person determined to succeed will do so.

I have several of these that I use for cigars, ammo and fragile electronics, and always wish I had ordered more. Pricing seems to fluctuate significantly. I've purchased most of them in the $24 range, but I've seen them as high as $50. MTM products seem to be good quality, and I've never had any issues.

I have a bunch of Case-Gard products and they are all GREAT. I have some in the garage for tools, i.e. I have a cordless router with all of the accessories in one box. When I need to go do a job I can grab the box marked cordless router and I know everything is in the box. I also have 1 in each vehicle as an emergency preparedness kit. 1st Aid, some bottles of water, protein bars, emergency blankets, poncho liner, etc. I haven't had any issues with water penetration, but they are in a garage, house or vehicle. They stay locked when you lock them, I have NEVER had on pop open before. I like that they are stackable, it makes for easy storage with the tools as mentioned above. Different sizes for different tools. They are strong as well, they are a good hasty step stool and a great seat when stacked 2 high. I have also used them as a make shift work bench. Use an old interior door and stack them 3 high, again when I take my tools to a work site, it makes a nice portable work bench for lite work. I like them and will continue to purchase them, an all around great multi purpose product.

I ordered two of these to store some boxes of ammo that I thought I would be using for target practice, and maybe some hunting over the past few years, but never did due to unforeseen family circumstances. Next time I will evaluate the dimensions a little bit better because this is a good sized container! I could have easily got by with one, but the second will come in handy for something I imagine. These containers are fairly large inside. To give you an idea........if you are familiar with the "Value Pack Remington Golden Bullet" rectangular box of 525 loose rounds, I guesstimate this case would hold 32 of those boxes. To save you doing the math that comes out to 16,800 rounds of .22 ammo. Far more in weight than the case is rated for, which is anywhere from 70 to 90 pounds depending on which website you check. Having said that........it is still molded plastic which is not all that expensive to produce. It's kind of sturdy, kind of durable looking, you have to work at it a bit to get the lid to close. Not bad overall, but not deserving a 5 Star rating. One of the cases came with a small cut on the bottom outside corner. The cut was not deep enough to warrant a return, but worth mentioning since the Amazon shipping cardboard had no marks. All in all, with my somewhat limited experience in buying items of this nature, I would fully recommend this container. If you want something more study I guess a metal ammo can is the next best option.
