  • Great MSI Hardware, but win 11 install is questionable. Mediatek wifi/bluetooth ?
CPU: Ryzen 9 9955HX RAM Size: 32 GB Hard Disk Size: 2 TB Graphics Description: RTX 5070 Ti Style: 18" QHD+ 240Hz
A big improvement over my older MSI gaming laptop. Solid and Fast. My only problem was the windows 11 install, this laptop came with a win 11 that couldn't be installed without a microsoft account and had to be connected to the internet. My install crashed and couldn't recover. I ended up installing windows 10 pro and it all went pretty smoothly. My biggest problem was drivers for the wifi and bluetooth. The wireless card is a Mediatek wifi 7 card and there is no where to get generic drivers, the MSI download will only install if you force the device select, the way we had too in the windows XP days. I replaced the wifi card with a wifi 6e intel based card when I added a second M.2 ssd. I installed the intel driver update software and the wifi and bluetooth just work and are up to date, and are kept up to date, which was my biggest concern with the Mediatek. I like and trust MSI hardware and this laptop is another winner in my book. ... show more

  • Hot garbage literally
CPU: Ryzen 9 9955HX RAM Size: 32 GB Hard Disk Size: 2 TB Graphics Description: RTX 5070 Ti Style: 18" QHD+ 240Hz
Had high hopes for this product. Had the screen flicker problem like everyone else. you can find solves for this online, but I don't like buying products that already need work arounds. Over heats badly again there are work arounds by reducing cpu power levels and whatnot aint nobody got time for that. After open box my son played mechwarrior online (20yo game) for 20 min and had system crash. The resulting damage was the speakers completely fried out. no fix with drivers. pretty sure some sadder point probably melted from over heating. I bought another one and a cooling pad this time while the first was sent back. The new one was an open box that was previously returned. I am not going to take another chance. Sorry MSI bad seller and from the looks of it and just a bad laptop to boot. I can not suggest to buy this even at its discounted rate.... ... show more

  • Very good laptop if you know what you’re looking for
CPU: Ryzen 9 9955HX RAM Size: 32 GB Hard Disk Size: 2 TB Graphics Description: RTX 5070 Ti Style: 18" QHD+ 240Hz
Ok, I got this used - like new. Read the entire review if you bought one of these it might help you. Opened the box, looks brand spankin new other than a small chip on the metal chassis for the screen housing. Barely noticeable to its ok I got it like 800 dollars off. Screen gives a pop to every texture. Runs nicely, deadlock has never looked better. Civ loads saves almost instantly. Needs a laptop cooling stand for 2k gaming or really demanding tasks as cpu temps WILL REACH 90C WITHOUT ONE… silent when doing light tasks but is jetty both speed and sound wise while on demanding tasks, battery is 99wh so lasts a decent amount like 2-3 hours on light work. Get a 99wh power bank that supports 140w. The video reviews out there show a different laptop cause mine has excellent build quality. Metal chassis and very sturdy hard good quality plastics doesn’t bend. The copper vents look mean without being flashy. Industrialized Raider fs. This laptop comes with some kinks to it tho. As long as you’re ok with the kinks, this is a very good laptop. Had the same issues everyone else was experiencing, mine specifically were random reboots to recovery and slight screen flickering and no msi windows install had to usb it. (Assuming the seller wiped the laptop, i talked with msi support and they happily gave me a windows creation file for this laptop) For the screen flickering, turn on native resolution and no variable refresh just stick to 240Hz the laptop is designed for it. Next the random reboots. This was the trickiest. The culprit? MSI Engine. Don’t use it as whenever the pc wants to go into a different power state, MSI Engine sends different power codes to the fans that effectively triggers the battery safeguards and forces a shutdown (watchdog codes and power state failure codes led to this conclusion) let’s just say it’s temperamental. I was willing to sacrifice having the program as the laptop already has its own cooling parameters that work sufficiently. The only thing is the rgb controls can’t customize it anymore. Shucks… good thing I don’t care about rgb. Overall I could have returned it but decided not as it has wonderful specs for a very good price and I put effort into making this work. Def throwing 4tbs in and upgrading to 96gbs ram down the road ... show more

  • Just... wow.
CPU: Ryzen 9 9955HX RAM Size: 32 GB Hard Disk Size: 2 TB Graphics Description: RTX 5070 Ti Style: 18" QHD+ 240Hz
In the interest of full transparency, this is my 2nd laptop. The first one had issues out of the box and ended up dying on me after about 2 weeks. When it worked, I loved it. But when it finally died, I decided give it one more chance and to return and purchase another. It's a gaming laptop, so don't have any illusions it's lightweight. Or quiet. Or will last all day on a charge. It's not, it isn't and it won't. That said, this laptop is a BEAST. I use it for hosting my own local AI studio and this thing batch renders like a dream. Animations in Blender? Piece of cake. Hosting a local, multi-agent AI platform to work on design, round tabling ideas or just sit back and hold a "group" conversation with multiple AIs simultaneously? Won't even break a sweat. Add a RAG system to give it functioning memory? Those 2 TB of storage will hardly notice. The onboard speakers leave something to be desired. I think the give away tablet I got when I upgraded my phone has louder speakers. But like I said - this is a creation and design laptop for me, so I don't need cinematic audio like a gamer might. The laptop, when paired with the cooling pad I bought for it, is loud but it runs cool. Even when that 5070 Ti is running full bore, I've never got it close to danger levels or even warning levels. I've seen other reviews about screen flicker but I've never experienced that on my rig, personally. If you're looking for something to watch YouTube or play sodoku on, pass this one up. It's way too much computer for that. If you're a gamer, I think this laptop would work well for you. If you're designing content and need an absolute warhorse, this one's your winner. All in all, amazing computer and I got it at a great price, so I'm just chalking the first one up to bad luck. I would buy another MSI without any hesitation and have recommended them to everyone I know looking to upgrade their current rig. ... show more
