Just what the title said. Literally, I heard a tiny snap, the screen went black, the fans went off and a puff of smoke came out of the right side then it never started again. I had high hopes, I have always bought MSI laptops. Not only is this machine a dud, but it appears to be a fire hazard.

    • Powerful Laptop for Video & Design Work (Not Just for Gamers)
I bought the MSI Raider GE78HX for our marketing team, and honestly, this thing is a beast. Even though it’s marketed as a “gaming” laptop, we mainly use it for video editing, graphic design, and general media work, and it handles everything without breaking a sweat. It does get warm and a little loud under heavy load, but that’s expected for a machine this powerful. The good news is it doesn’t throttle or slow down when it’s working hard, which is way more important for long renders and deadlines. A couple things to keep in mind: It’s big and heavy, so this isn’t something you’ll want to carry around all day Battery life is just okay — you’ll want to stay plugged in for serious work That said, for an office or hybrid setup, it’s totally worth it. ... show more
