    • The mATX board to get!

This is such a great matx board. As of right now, I think it is the best value and up to date mb out ther for matx. The board is very stable, I paired it with a processor aimed at productivity with 64 gb ddr5 6000 and a nvdia gpu. I was able to push all cores to just below 5.8 ghz with only a 240 aio, average temps at that point were at at 94c. I just wanted to check how far I can push the processor while keeping it stable, ram was oc'd to 6400, running very stable as well. I run the whole system with a corsair rm850x, the psu didnt really break a sweat. The board supports pcie gen 5 for the two front facing m.2 slots and the bonus slot on the rear ofr the board runs @ pcie gen 4. The graphics card slot is higher up on the board, closer to the cpu compared to most asus boards. That might be important if you are building in a tight matx case as I did. The board is also equipped with wifi 7 and here's something you wont find on other matx boards, a 5gb ethernet port. 10gb would have been a dream but 5gb is plenty enough for my use. The bios for the board can be really simple but if you dig in, you will find all the settings you can expect to find to overclock your cpu and ram. If you are into rgb lighting, there are enough argb connectors for that. Mystic Light is more stable than ever, just make sure to get rgb devices that are compatible with msi mystic light. So, for what it's worth, I am highly confident that the MSI Mortar is the mATX motherboard that will be more than good enough for most diy builders out there looling for a high quality motherboard. Also important to note, this board has no known backdoor at this time and nor does the MSI software give any access to remotely run malicious code on your pc. Board is not similar to the intel version at all so if you come from intel to AMD on what appeared to be the same white out board, you will be losing a few headers and the usb c for the front to its connection is not possible due to the location on the board. My GPU literally prevents its connection and so im out of a USB C port for the front of my case which is dumb. ... show more

Coming from an ASUS TUF B650M, this motherboard has been nothing short of great to work with. The bios settings for voltages, specifically VSOC and the DDR5 DIMM, actually change when you set them to different values. The bios is super easy to navigate and it is not confusing as there is not multiple settings of the same kind to change. My system started right up after an M-FLASH to the latest bios version, and I am currently running a 9800x3d and 6400mhz cl32 DDR5 at EXPO with altered values, and it runs flawlessly with the tweaks I've made to lower voltages down without instability. Please take a look at this for your next MFF/SFF build, you won't regret it. Would like to point out that the PCIE slot would align with the top most slot on the motherboard, allowing for better GPU width clearance at the cost of possible cooler position conflicts. WiFi 7, Gen5 PCIe for GPU, dual Gen5 M.2 support when paired with Ryzen 9xxx CPU, tool-less M2 installation, easy and innovative unlock/lock GPU system.
