  • Solid X870 Board with many features and great performance. Well optimized at a decent price.
Style: MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI
Super easy install process, BIOS was easy to use, fastest RAM training times for AMD! Board looks great too, wish it had RGB though. WIFI is super fast compared to my old Asus ROG. Very fast boot times. Remember to lock the GPU by pressing the button after installing as it doesn't auto lock when it clicks in. Recommend! ... show more

  • MSI MPG X870E Edge TI WiFi
Style: MPG X870E EDGE TI WIFI
The MSI MPG X870E Edge TI WiFi is without a doubt one of the best AM5 motherboards on the market. With its sleek white design and premium finish, it perfectly complements clean, high-end gaming setups. It supports Ryzen 7000/8000/9000 series CPUs effortlessly, with a powerful 22-phase VRM and excellent stability even under heavy overclocks. It features PCIe 5.0, DDR5 support beyond 8000MHz (OC), 4 M.2 slots, Wi-Fi 7, 5G LAN, and high-end audio with the ALC4080 codec. The BIOS is fast, intuitive, and packed with features for enthusiasts and overclockers. Mystic Light RGB is subtle but beautifully placed. Beyond performance, the build quality is outstanding: well-distributed heatsinks, reinforced PCIe slots, and a smart layout for optimal airflow. Even with 4 DDR5 sticks, the board remained rock solid and delivered excellent performance. If you're looking for a top-tier motherboard for Ryzen that combines power, aesthetics, and cutting-edge features, this board is simply amazing. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Expensive but feature-heavy and gorgeous AM5 motherboard
Style: MPG X870E CARBON WIFI
This motherboard is overpriced, considering there are sub-$300 motherboards that do essentially the same thing (especially if you don't need the overkill amount of ports on the I/O panel). But for an aesthetic, top-of-the-line black build, this motherboard is unmatched. The RGB for the dragon and "carbon" branding is lovely, and the board itself is solid and high quality. It's chock-full of ports, headers, and features- plus the BIOS is incredibly intuitive and easy to use/navigate. Unfortunately, the second M.2 slot shares a lane with the first PCIe slot, so you won't be able to use all four SSD slots unless you want to halve your GPU slot from PCIe 5.0 x16 to PCIe 5.0 x8 (even if that's pretty insignificant). Overall, though, it's a great board, but overkill for most and incredibly expensive for a motherboard. ... show more

  • Please avoid!
Style: MPG X870E CARBON WIFI
The media could not be loaded. Verdict: this board is a disaster. I bought this together with a 9950X3D to give my old PC some new blood. I never thought it would take me so long to get it fully functional. I only replaced the motherboard, CPU and memory. Things like hard drives and graphics card are the same. And I didn't even reinstall the OS. Right after I logged into Windows I noticed I had no network. I don't know what wireless module is used on this board, but of course my first guess was the driver. Now to the fun part. When I plugged in the bundled USB stick, nothing happened, so I was stuck in a dead loop. Without USB, I can't install the driver. Without the driver, I can't get network. Without network, I can't fix either the USB or the wireless. Later I decided to take a rest by playing some offline games, and I started to experience more weird issues, such as system restarting on its own, graphical glitches in the BIOS system, power still on after shutting down, Blue Screen of Death. Even my keyboard and mouse refuse to work sometimes. I also have another USB stick that is imaged with CachyOS Linux. It won't boot properly. At the GRUB menu, it either says "Need to load kernel first", or it pauses for a few seconds and goes back to the menu. Only memtest runs fine. I have been using the same USB stick for both installation and recovery with my old motherboard and CPU without any issue. After 3 hours of struggle, I turned on my MacBook to reformat it into one single exFAT partition and put some drivers there. Somehow Windows was able to recognize this USB stick and I was able to install the drivers. After that all problems were gone... at least till now, which is one day. Now even the bundled USB opens correctly. It has two partitions, it seems, with one CDROM like partition containing all the drivers. I would expect a motherboard to be at least minimally functional after first install, to the point where at least Windows drivers could get it up and running, albeit suboptimally. Maybe I had bad luck. Maybe it is an excellent board. To me, it's not so far. Update 08/09: Another serious issue -- I reflashed my USB stick to recover my Linux boot entries, and I'm still not able to boot into the USB. I was getting the exact same error as before. Then I tried switching from UEFI to CSM, and rebooted into Windows by accident. Guess what? Wireless stopped working AGAIN, with a different error: STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE. There are posts on Reddit about the exact same issue. I tried what they said, clearing CMOS, keeping power unplugged for 30sec, everything. No dice. Another word about BIOS system: even though I'm not a native English speaker, I have found so many grammar mistakes in the text. I thought maybe the native language was Simplified/Traditional Chinese, and switched to both Chinese, only to find about 1/3 text in Chinese. Oh, and I forgot to mention the very "informative" warning I got after I first switched to CSM. ... show more

  • Ultrafast Connectivity Good AM5 Mobo | Lower PCIe Slot is Awkward | Ineligible for Promotions
Style: PRO X870-P WIFI
Many features on the X870-P motherboard for $200. BIOS is easy to use and it was simple to create an XMP profile that got me DDR5-6200 using a 64GB DDR5 kit that is rated at 6400mt/s. I am still happy with 6200(!) and believe faster speeds will be possible. The motherboard can accept up to 128gb of RAM for sure and should be expandable to 256gb in the future with BIOS updates. Wifi-7 via Qualcomm chipset is outstanding. Multiple NVME slots and traditional SATA port The lower PCIe slot is super close to other electronics on the board, it might very difficult to install a second GPU. This model is ineligible for promotions. AIPC features include NPU overclocking which sound awesome and are unavailable with the 9600X. ... show more
