  • Great laptop to buy for school/work and gaming
I've been using the MSI GS66 i7 2060 240hz model for about 4 months and here's what I have to say about it. Display: The 240hz model has the same panel as the GS65 (last gen). Brightness is decent (I wouldn't suggest using it with direct light but good for office and some outdoor use), it's decent for photo/video editing, minimal ghosting with overdrive on. Backlight bleed was good with my panel. I'd take advantage of the 240hz in esports titles (CS:GO, R6S, etc). You can't adjust brightness in dGPU mode but a BIOS update fixes it. I/O: It's decent, USB 3.2, Thunderbolt/Power USB C is on the left. Only slight complaint is that the RJ45 is on the right side, so might be annoying if you're a right handed mouse user. 3.5 jack is combo mic and headphones Chassis: Metal frame gives it a premium feel, barely any deck flex and screen flex, an improvement from last gen. It is a fingerprint magnet, but can be easily wiped off with microfiber cloth. Trackpad: Good quality, pretty accurate and good for work and average use. Most of the pad is the "left click" and a small right corner is the "right click". Would not sugesst doing any gaming with it (even casual games like Minecraft are annoying to play with it. Speakers: They're extremely loud! Gaming with them is okay, but I'd reccomend headphones always. Music sounds ok. Nahimic works alright with it, some modes make the speakers sound weird depending on usage. Keyboard: Really great to use all around for typing and gaming, per key RGB is nice too. Battery: Don't be disappointed by the out of box battery life. You gotta tweak it to make it last. Set screen to 60hz, enable battery mode and Intel GPU in Dragon Center, and do some more tweaking. I managed to push it from about 5:30 to 8 or 9. CPU: i7-10750h is great, good performance, not much to say. Good for video and photo editing and rendering. Gaming is good on it. GPU: 2060 is nice also. You can overclock it (no voltage control tho). This gpu is the 80 watt version not the 90. RTX looks good especially in COD:MW. Cooling: Out of the box, the CPU throttles at 95, but you can undervolt (enable in bios first) and it lowers it to a nice 89 while gaming. Gpu has 2 fans and cpu has 1. Gpu stays pretty chill, highest I've gotten is 75 when overclocked. It is a bit loud on load. Misc: It has windows hello face cam, ram is upgradable to 64gb, and wifi has good range and connection. Overall, this is an amazing laptop to buy, great for school and work use while hiding the amazing specs inside. (This review is written by my son) ... show more

  • GREAT LAPTOP WHEN IT DOESNT OVERHEAT-- WHICH IS REALLY NEVER AFTER EXTENSIVE USE
I bought this laptop knowing full well i was going to use it for daytrading equities... system has ran very hot continually since purchase-- turns out it is indeed a hardware issue and software fixes do not stop it from just shutting down randomly---somedays I trade more than 250K worth of equites--u simply cannot have a unreliable PC -- WELL I GOT SCREWED ... show more

  • Great Laptop
The biggest issue I had with this laptop was that it ran really hot... like 90 degree when playing any kind of game. After looking up a quick video on youtube, I was able to solve this issue, running the same games at around 75 to 78 degrees. 4 out of 5 stars because this should not be something that the consumer should have to solve spending at this price point. ... show more

  • In terms of productivity and gaming, this computer can handle the job.
I was searching for a computer to buy and this computer met all my standards: a machine that could handle AAA games and could be used for school. I was a bit hesitant to buy this computer, because I couldn't find any satisfactory reviews left by any YouTube personalities; but its safe to say, from what I have experienced first hand, It's a wonderful machine! This was the first time I have ever bought a computer online, so my standards were set really high; and oh boy were they met. I was greeted by a quick and powerful display, which was absolutely stunning. The audio quality on the MSI GS66 is spectacular; its very loud even at %30!! I was mesmerized by all of the flashy details: the RGB keyboard, the adjustable Fn keys, and the toggle keys. These are just one of the many things that are amazing about this computer. Some things that I was dissatisfied with about this computer was the track pad, the keyboard, and the easily stained keys. The track pad is not as touch sensitive as you would expect, and it is not accurate sometimes., as for the keyboard, it takes some getting used to; as the number pad and a few other keys have been removed. Finally, the keys. The keys are very easily stained, and that also goes for the whole computers material. This material is sensitive to fingerprints and common stains, this was a surprise to me considering I think myself a very clean and tidy person. Although these issues may be an annoyance to some, I think they're easily fixable and/or ignorable. This computer is magnificent and I will be using at as my main laptop for hopefully many years to come, although it has its tiny problems, the benefits far outweigh the issues! ... show more

  • Great for gaming, video editing. Professional look with gaming quality features.
This laptop has been great for playing games such as WoW, Cyberpunk2077, Witcher 3. I am able to run on Ultra settings with high FPS. The fans run kinda loud but the fans are fully controllable and tbh you want good airflow to protect your investment + parts. I am also able to edit videos using HitFilm Express and exporting 4k video's is very fast for portable laptop. Only complaint so far: I packed my laptop in a backpack and scratched the matte black lid and now the scratch sticks out. ... show more

  • Disappointing graphics and daily usage
As a gaming laptop it's extremely disappointing, mostly due to the fact that NVIDIA decided to decieve customers with a name to it's products that doesn't compare to the PC performance. The result is a laptop that performs a lot worse than a 6 year old PC. The other big disappointing point is the mouse placement. It's so big, I accidentally touch it and constantly get frustrated with it. All these aside it's a great laptop and the seller has performed on point. 5/5 ... show more

  • Nice, but need to know...
Very nice laptop. Welk built, Great performance, but fans are very noisy and it gets very hot.

  • Worth every penny
This laptop is a BEAST. You’ll have zero issues running any AAA games. Modern warfare runs a bit hot on the cpu but no lag spikes and still 60+ FPS in a player heavy area. Airflow is amazing and per-key rgb is awesome. Only downside is you’ll spend a lot of time wiping off fingerprints because it is a magnet for oily fingers. ... show more
