Light and thin. Looks good, feels good, runs great. Beautiful, crisp, responsive display. Clear, loud speakers. I was scrambling looking for the mute/volume when Cortana started talking at me during setup. Rubber feet are big and firmly attached. Dragon Center software tool is a nice touch. Webcam is gritty, battery is small. Under-bottom and sides of screen are plastic rather than aluminum. Feels solid but not rugged, don't kick it around too much. Dedicated mouse buttons for the trackpad might have been nice, but that's pretty nitpicky. Great price for the 17-inch size. If you only have $900 towards a system, this is your laptop. Also, order from MSI. There was an issue with my order and they went out of their way to make it right. While there are cheaper alternatives out there, when it comes to gaming this laptop will breeze through most. The dedicated graphics card is more powerful than most in this price range, at the cost of a somewhat smaller hard drive. The good news is, there is an expansion bay inside to add a second SSD to in order to circumvent this. The 16 gb of ram is sufficient for most purposes, but can also be upgraded in the future as needs arise. The brushed aluminum finish is gorgeous to look at, but tends to hold fingerprints and smudges easily, so that's one thing to keep in mind. There's lot's to like about this laptop, so I'll tell you what I don't like. The delete key on the keyboard should be where the insert key is! I constantly hit the insert key and the delete key is a button I use daily. I never us the insert key. The red keyboard should have the option to be blue. The red make my eyes blurry. And last, if you like to slightly move the tilt of the screen for better viewing, the screen lifts the whole laptop! Poor design in my opinion. ... show more

The best purchase I made in 2019, this laptop has been a life saver. I use it for my school work, my photography and videography projects as well. Our small church started going live during the pandemic and I do their videos so you can imagine the amount of learning and practicing I had to do before embarking into the Live streaming. But this laptop is fast and because of that, I was able to get into that flow so easily. This laptop is worth every penny and I could buy 10 more of these if anything were to happen to the one I have (God forbid). I have no regrets at all. ... show more

i’ve been having nothing but problems with this laptop for well over a year. the wifi connection is busted, it’s a hardware issue. basically, can’t play any games or use the net over wifi, only ethernet. don’t make the same mistake as some of us have on here.

This review is an update after owning the Laptop since July of 2019. Its now Dec 2022. The laptop still works great. What people need to understand is that this laptop has a large cpu and a dedicated video card so its going to make some HEAT! So please keep in mind you will need adequate air flow, perhaps a computer stand with fans in it etc if you plan to game on it. I also STRONGLY recommend using a program called throttlestop on this laptop, there are many videos about how to configure it safely and adjust some of the things that will allow this laptop to run cooler while gaming or doing intensive things. It will also allow you to disable "turbo" which is simply not required for most things but will activate regardless and drive your heat up. Also learn how to use the dragon center if your unfamiliar with MSI's. You can adjust your cpu/fan settings and you can dial in how fast your fans spin at certain temps It should be noted that I am a truck driver so this laptop does not get used everyday but does get used everyday that I am home, whether that be for 2 days, a week or a month. But im super pleased with it and will buy another msi whenever this one fails but almost 2.5 years and still going good so far ... show more

When I purchased this very nice laptop I ASSUMED it had a built in webcam seeing the picture it shows . IT DOES NOT . When i even opened up the laptop it has the hole for one and two microphone holes as well. This laptop also has a webcam icon in the Start button list as well????? weird to say least ..if they know it does have cam then why go all the trouble to make holes and put features in start list and pictures to confuse non knowledge computer people. Other than the Webcam issue this laptop SO FAR is very nice and worth the $$. ... show more
