  • Read if you need to RMA *Updated*
Size: Boost Clock: 1635 MHz Style: RTX 2080 TI VENTUS 11G OC
The media could not be loaded. **Update 1/21/19 - 4 stars to 2 stars One month to the day I get this repaired card back from Amazon/MSI it stops posting altogether. Im getting a full refund and a different card. I added a screenshot of what HWInfo now shows. It only displays 1024x768 resolution now and after doing the same extensive debugging procedure I did before (posted below) all I had left to try was my 1080 Ti. Which of course, works just fine. Props to the amazon rep who helped with the refund, they didn't mind its not coming in the original packaging MSI kept with the original RMA. I did not overclock the card this time, complete factory settings. Even added 2 corsair ML140 fans for intake blowing directly into the card. Very disappointed in this card so far. --------------------Original Review-------------------- * Attached is a video of some artifacting I experienced 5 days after receiving the card playing Destiny 2. This ended up being related to those other 2080 ti cards failing within a couple weeks that Nvidia is trying to address. This is my card BEFORE RMA. * Screen shot of HWinfo64 showing min/max/average values for the 2080 ti ventus oc after 5 hours of playing Destiny 2 at 144Hz/1440p/Ultra. No overclock on the card and in a hot case (Corsair 280X). This is my card AFTER RMA *Picture of bent PCIe mounting bracket AFTER RMA. First let me start with the good things; - This card is quiet with very little coil whine. Coming from a 1080 Ti Gigabyte Aorus. This card is virtually silent. - No RGB (might be a negative for you). - Thermals aren't great. I hit a max of 82C after 5 hrs of gaming but again, even with the fans at 90% its not that bad imo. - 1440p/144fps/Ultra. And a solid 144fps at that - Not as power hungry as I would have thought. 277.27W max with 218W average under load. The bad (and some of this is my fault) --Initial Trouble-- - A couple days into owning the card I began to experience small artifacting. Spots of colors when I look at a specific area in a game. It would go after I move to a new area. I did have a small overclock, Destiny 2 crashes with any card I have with my normal overclock. So I had +50MHz Core/+100MHz Memory/ 111% Power with a stock fan profile. Nothing fancy. - As it got progressively worst I removed my overclock. Used DDU to remove driver and installed a fresh one. Removed overclock on my cpu and any bios tweaks I had. Ran my rig as stock as possible. No dice. Visual inspection of the pcb and a closer look with a digital microscope, no anomaly. Reflashed the bios.. Turned off g-sync. Booted into a usb thumb drive of linux. Things got worst. Kept getting worst. -Day 5 is when it got to the point where any game would crash after 1 minute. The video I attached is about as much use I could get before a crash. I then decided to RMA. --RMA Experience through Amazon-- - I decided to RMA through Amazon. Amazon suggests that you ship everything back in the original packaging, which I did. Had I gone through MSI exclusively, I would have been told I would not get any of the packaging back. This kills resale value. I cant fault MSI for this. Amazon should have specified the policy but I should have known to check MSI's policy. - I had to contact Amazon customer service to find out they received my card. When you spend over $1000 on a card you have to RMA, it would be nice if they could mention they have it. I did have tracking and I only contacted customer service a couple weeks after the ups tracking link indicated they received it. No notification from amazon or MSI, just the standalone tracking number from ups. Not an issue if it were something cheaper but that’s half way to a mortgage payment were talking about. - MSI ends up getting the card via Amazon. I get the card back 12/21/18 after sending it in 11/26. Plain cardboard box with some packing foam. Interestingly enough its the EXACT same card. Return slip had a blank field under "work done". PCIe support bracket is slightly bent. Not sure if that was shipping or MSI. I get my first email from MSI 12/27 saying they have shipped the card back to me. They let me know they shipped the card 6 days after I receive the card. ---Conclusion--- - Some of the bad is my fault. There is room for improvement with Amazon's communication. MSI did okay, I would have been in a better situation if I bothered to read their policy. The lack of email communication from them is a little less excusable. -Nvidia really should have had a ready product at this price point. - Cant say this card is much of an overclocker and to be honest im afraid to oc the card again. If MSI told me how they fixed the card or why it failed I would be more inclined to do so. Maybe a low level bios fix. I havent opened up the card since I got it back but I will at some point. 4/5 stars, deducting 1 star just for the experience of it all. It took 3 companies and a dumb decision by me to make this card bad on the first go. Right now this card is great, even stock speeds. I am happy with it and provided it works in a week or a month or this time next year I will continue to be stoked. I will be updating if this happens again and likely deducting some stars. ... show more

  • Very quiet, great thermals, and very powerful.
Size: Boost Clock: 1755 MHz Style: RTX 2080 TI GAMING X TRIO
Although this card's price point is quite steep for most I think it's well worth it especially if you have a rig that compliments it well. Make sure though that you have enough room in your case to fit it because this thing is massive compared to average graphics cards. It's about 13 inches long and about 2.5 inches thick and it was pretty tight getting it into a full tower! (mainly due to my tower having trays for harddrives and such) Thermals seem to be exceptional, about 32 degrees celsius at idle with fans OFF at ambient (room) of 20 degrees celsius just using the massive heatsink alone to cool it. Under full load it's around 58 Celsius at about 78% fan speed with my fan curve settings. I use the fan curve in MSI afterburner to have it at minimum of 30% fan speed which brings it down to 27-30 at idle. The RGB lighting is fully controllable and beautiful with a ton of profiles in "MSI Mystic Light" which you can download online. Coming from a GTX 970 this card more than doubled my framerate on pretty much any game at 1440p and maxes graphics settings on almost any game with ease. I can finally take advantage of my 144hz monitor. Overall I believe this card is worth it if you can afford it and may hopefully come down in price a bit once the 30xx series comes out (maybe wishful thinking lol). So far I've had no issues that people had with the card right around 2018-2019 and I think it's because most of the issues have been ironed out by now (fingers crossed) but I will absolutly update the review if I do. So if the review stays good then that means I've had no issues. ... show more

  • Great card but beware!
Size: Boost Clock: 1755 MHz Style: RTX 2080 TI GAMING X TRIO
The Rtx 2080ti is as such a top of the line graphics card. The best gpu you can buy besides like an rtx titan. The card runs great, and it includes a raise bar to help prevent card sagging which is a pretty nice plus. I have no issues running games like Insurgency Sandstorm, and Call of Duty Modern Warfare. Now while the card is great, nothing comes without it's fair share of flaws. The first problem, this one being very important to be aware of, is that the card straight out of the box DOESN'T have its fans turned on. If you get this card or any graphics card for that matter, be sure to check that the fans are on. I wasn't aware of this fact till my computer crashed and i checked msi afterburner to see my temps and saw my fans were off!!! So please for those of you who get the MSI RTX 2080ti get afterburner and double check if the fans are on or not otherwise the card will throttle, and/or crash. The only other issue, is small for me but might be pretty big for others is that the card runs pretty warn in a midtower, especially if you're using a Noctua heatsink. So far in my short time having this card, these were the only things i found problematic with the card otherwise it runs and works great! I can't 100% say it's best bang for your buck or that it's exactly needed unless you plan on future proofing. For those looking for a powerful graphics card that will last them for a good handful of years, then the 2080 is for you. Otherwise, i recommend a 2070 or the 2070s, (2080 if he price is still close to the 2070s). The 2070 will still last you a long time and run really good, as well as save you a pretty big chunk of change. ... show more
