  • Great Card For Gamers
Style: GTX 1070 GAMING X 8G
2016 seems to be the year of graphics cards hitting the market in force and the GTX 1070 stands out to be the clear winner in thus far for performance per dollar. The MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X comes in at a very affordable $525 while offering excellent cooling and a strong potential for overclocking. The stock MSI Gaming X cards are packaged with MSI Afterburner and MSI Gaming App. These two pieces of software are critical for getting the most out of your MSI graphics card. In the enthusiast circle MSI Afterburner is known for being the go-to overclocking tool but if you’re worried about frying your card the Gaming App has three safe clock speeds available. When staying at the standard clock speeds you’re looking at roughly 20% increase in framerates over last generation’s top tier cards which can still be had for nearly double the price of the MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X. While those speeds are a great bonus these speeds come at a cost, and that cost is size. The GTX 1070 comes in at around 13.5”x10.5”x3.5”. This card likely won’t fit in smaller cases, if it does though it might suffer from restricted airflow. We also ran into the issue of the MSI Gaming App not being compatible with our system (specs below), while this is disappointing we were easily able to overclock far past MSI’s OC mode yielding an extra 5% performance over their clock speed. If you’re into the black and red theme the GTX 1070 offers up RGB support though the red “fins” are stuck to red and the MSI logo is stuck to white. These can be changed to a variety of patterns but that seems to be the limit thus far. Pros: - Bang for buck - Great looking (black and red) - Easily Overclockable Cons - Packaged Software can be picky - Large card Overall this card is an excellent option for gaming enthusiasts, especially for the price point. When paired with my current system we’re yielding very strong framerates when compared to the AMD R9 390X which this card was built to take out. • The Best Part for Me is this Card Runs Incredibly Cool and Quiet
Style: GTX 1070 GAMING X 8G
There are so many reviews on this card, so I will just quickly tell you know my personal experience using this MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X edition with a dual-monitor setup as an everyday normal user. I am not a hard core gamer, but I do prefer a two-monitor set-up where I work on my writing on one monitor and leave some media running on another, such as a movie, music/youtube, or some news video clips, etc. For my main monitor, I use a Samsung 28" 4K, while the one for media is a regular 1080p TV. I was using a reference AMD Radeon RX 480 that begins at Windows start-up at around 40 degrees Celsius, and consistently rising to a plateau average of 79-80 C(these readings are from the GPU-Z program), even when I'm just surfing the net and/or watching a movie. I also tried some light gaming at 4K(meaning the games were not graphics-intensive), and I found that the RX 480 was not up to par with all of that, so I upgraded to this MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X. I also have a 31" LG 4K monitor on the way, so I already felt the RX 480 might not do so well on a 3-monitor setup anyways. With a two-monitor setup, this MSI card for the most part has been running from 35-39 degrees Celsius, and under load the most I have seen it rise is to about 56 C. After its warm-up period, with email/net surfing on the monitor and a movie playing on PowerDVD on the TV, the temperature plateaus around 42-43 C. The temperature of the card is especially significant for me as I am nit-picky about the longevity of the individual components, and my computer as a whole, and I just find the heat given off of the computer to be very uncomfortable. My full tower case comprises of six air fans total, and with this card, they kick into higher gear fewer times than with the RX 480. So just for that part only, it is already more quiet. And while the card runs below 60 C, the fans do not kick in, so by itself it would be completely silent since I have not yet stressed it to over 60 C in my normal daily usage. The aesthetics of this card is also a step up from the reference RX 480, if you are into the aggressive red/black "gamer" look. Some professional reviews on the Internet have shown that two RX 480 beats a single GTX 1070 on most gaming comparisons, which is at the direct price point of the GTX 1070($400-500). However, to me, that extra load, weight, space, and especially that extra wattage and increase in the electricity bill in the long run are just not worth it. I prefer this single card setup knowing my computer/components should last longer since it is not under as much stress and heat. The single fact that this MSI card runs at around 38 C under normal everyday usage is to me quite incredible. • Badass Red Dragon Graphics Gaming Card
Style: GTX 1070 GAMING 8G
I am writing this review to enter into the MSI Reward Program. Please contact me on the email address I sent for the MSI Reward program to get my updated mailing address since I no longer live at the address on the invoice. I love my MSI GTX1070 graphics card! It looks really badass with its case with red dragon scale look and has dragons. Who doesn't love dragons? I really love dragons! =D Besides the aesthetics, it has 2 fans to help cool down the graphics card and they only turn on if needed to. The fans are pretty quite and I haven't noticed the noise. I've been able to play all of my AAA PC games with the highest quality graphics with no lag so far. With 8 GB of video ram, it's plenty for any gaming needs you have for now and for the future. Plus they give you an option to change the lights and the program to do so is pretty easy to use. Of course you can SLI this to make a super OP PC gaming computer, but I honestly don't see the need to in the next 4 years or so unless the requirements for gaming jumps all of the sudden. This graphics card works best with a 1080p or 2K monitor. I'm currently using it with a 2K IPS monitor. If you really want to have the best support for a 4K or even an 8K monitor, you should get the 1080 Ti MSI graphics card. ... show more
