  • A great motherboard, with some back story
Size: ATX Style: B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI
Update July 2025: MSI responded to my 2nd RMA and they sent me a brand new, better MoBo, and it is working great since. This is the motherboard to get; it is relatively affordable, easy to install, good quality overall, and it fits several sizes of cases. Old review: I bought this in December 2024, and it was working okay, but it didn't recognize the 4 TB M.2 SSD in its second M.2 bay. I contacted MSI, and after several tests and emails, they asked me to ship the MoBo to them. I disassembled the PC, sent it to them ($50 UPS!), and it came back. Guess what, it is worse than it was!!! Now, not only does the M.2 not work, but the MoBo chipset is overheating, USB connections keep dropping off, and many, many issues! This is a horrible experience that I didn't anticipate or expect from a respectable seller/manufacturer like MSI; what a waste. ... show more

  • Yes!
Size: ATX Style: B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI
Not God tier but very solidly Jesus tier. Wished I had known 7.1 sound before I bought my 5.1 system but thats my fault. I use Nvidia so no idea about video. Audio, realtek and on point all day long, Bluetooth skullcandy and you are there in person. WiFi, flawless for me, and actually way faster than my older system. Zero drops. Running 64 GB high speed ram and system is flawless coupled with Ryzen 9 7950. Not overclocked. Upgraded firmware, zero issues. Love my rig and yes this board handles LED cases with or without microcontrollers as well as multiple fan/cooler setups. ... show more

  • Best value full ATX MB on the AM5 platform with some shortcomings.
Size: ATX Style: B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI
Pros, 1. A decent priced B650 full ATX motherboard. 2. For it's price it has some good features like the newest WIFI 6.0, Bluetooth 5.3, plenty of USB Type A 3.2 ports. front headers for a USB Type A and C, 2 M.2 ports, a USB Type C GEN 3.2 2x2 20 Gbit speed and plenty of space to add your GPU and two other smaller PCI-E devices. 3. Has a decent VRM, power stages are 12, 2 and 1. The mosfets are well cooled with onboard heatsinks. 4. The BIOS is pretty decent with an EZ or advanced mode for tuning and programming. 5. Has a BIOS flashback switch. 6. Unlike some people I didn't have memory issues. I'm using BIOS version V1.3 that came with the motherboard and I was able to run a set of T-Force Z DDR5 6000 CL30 on EXPO without any issues. 7. If I wanted to upgrade to a better CPU this motherboard could handle it and AMD has a reputation of holding it's platforms longer than Intel. Cons to be fair, 1. Like many others have stated the boot time is horrible. I've read a lot of people complain about the MSI B650 motherboards having long boot times and I've experienced the same. I'm on BIOS V1.3, maybe a BIOS update may fix this. 2. When I went to tune my CPU in BIOS they had two different way to use PBO which is confusing. One is labeled Overclock and other is under advanced setting for overclocking. The odd thing is when you use the advanced setting they work better that the labeled Overclock setting yet don't show up as a BIOS change when you go to save and reset. Maybe a BIOS update might fix this. 3. This a minor con, but you get what you pay for. There's no PCI-E GEN 5 nor NVME x5. 4. Compared to Intel's B660 motherboards the AMD B650 motherboards are expensive and you have to use DDR5, you don't have the option for DDR4 motherboards. All in all I'm happy with my purchase because I wanted to move to a new platform, but I didn't have a lot of money of spend. I paired this with a Ryzen 5 7600, DDR5 6000 CL60, RX 6800(non-XT) and this motherboard for a total cost of under 550 after tax. With everything in my PC I can websurf, run light productivity apps, watch multimedia and play the newest games at 1440p or sometimes above. Sure I could of cut corners, got a cheaper motherboard and memory kit, but if I did I'd have to upgrade those two things much sooner and I really needed the extra PCI-E slots. Update, I recently upgraded to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and this motherboard handles it with no problem. A little advise. If you run the 7800X3D I'd go into BIOS, set the maximum temperature to 80c under PBO and do a CPU offset of anywhere from 20 to 30 negative because this CPU in my system was running hot even using a EVGA 280mm AIO liquid cooler. Also using good thermal grease will help as well. After doing what I did my idle temperatures went from the high 40s and low 50s to the range of 42 to 45c idle so I dropped at least 7c lower on average. I chose to use Artic MX-6 which I find to be the best non-conductive thermal paste for the money. ... show more

  • I’m still happy
Size: ATX Style: B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI
I know that i don’t need this kind of a motherboard for my build, but it’s great having one, honestly, the ports on the back are amazing and the fan and rgb connectors are spread out nice. The IO shield while putting it in was scary but it didn’t take me longer than 30 seconds so I can’t call it hard. The WiFi has gone in and out sometimes, not sure if it is the motherboard 100% though. Great option for upgradability in the future as of today when I’m writing this. ... show more

  • Incompetent After Purchase Support
Size: ATX Style: B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI
The board is fine (I think, maybe not. Still trying to figure it out). Their customer support is incompetent. I ran into trouble with my computer about 10 months after building it. It worked fine the whole time with no hardware issues until about a week ago. One night it worked fine, the next night, no boot. I tested my PSU with a multimeter and everything looked right so I email led MSI since motherboard would be the next thing to test. They were very unhelpful. I very directly asked if the debug lights would turn on if the board was good if all other components were removed—I was trying to narrow down the hardware issues to be the motherboard. They ignored my question for several messages in which I repeatedly asked before finally responding to it: the debug lights won’t turn on if no RAM is plugged in. It will act like there’s now power. That is a terrible design decision that makes it really hard to debug your problems without having duplicate hardware to swap in and out. They were also unable to follow links I sent them. They asked me what hardware I was using and so I listed everything out and included links to Amazon and then they asked, what RAM were you using? I responded with the same link as before and they say that my RAM is incompatible with our board. Try with one from the list we linked. I asked why it would work for 10 months without issue with incompatible RAM and they never attempted to answer that question. I went ahead and bought new RAM to test what they were saying since I wanted to upgrade my RAM anyway and it still does not work! Perhaps this is me seeking recourse for a terrible customer experience, but I don’t think I’ll spend money with MSI if this is how they take care of their customers after purchase. Right now, my best guess is the board is broken and I’ll need to buy a new and MSI will be of no help. UPDATE: I bought a different board and it worked just fine. MSIs warranty service requires you to pay for shipping the board to them, so I guess I'll go and do that now to see if they'll fix it for me. ... show more

  • Great MSI board
Size: ATX Style: B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI
Both this for my girlfriend’s PC I just built for her. First time I’ve used an MSI board in a while and it was great. Really easy to install, and it has a Clear CMOS and Flash BIOS button built in which is convenient. Integrated well with all her components and is very fast. Would buy again.
