Install this 24k mini split from Mr cool was really amazed at the self installed install, very straight forward, hook everything, up powered on as per instruction, and boom prefect unit, cool work beautifuly, quiet, blows like a wind storm if you select that , heat installed in a 1000sq foot house heated this house with ease and the bill is unbelievable it went from $78 a month to $96. Could not nlbe happier with the proformance of this unit even outside unit quiet , thank you looking at purchasing the large ducted unit for a bigger 2000sq foot home that has a 1982 carrier unit still works but if I can purchase this as an upgrade for 2500ish and save some energy noise monies I'm in cheers to Mr cool, very nice design and price. ... show more

I purchased this with some curiosity whether it was truly DIY and was pleasantly surprised that it was. You do have to have electrical knowledge or have an electrician do the wiring. The instructions along with some Youtube videos definitely helped. I am pretty handy overall but I found this to be pretty straight forward to install. For function it works fantastic. I have it in a very well insulated Workshop, but it maintains the temp and humidity better than expected. on a 30 degree day it was blowing 95 degree air when demanded. It did struggle when temp was below 15 and could not maintain 62 degrees at night. It was routinely going in to defrost mode and during that time it isnt heating. I was not surprised by this heat pumps routinely struggle in low temps this does better than an older mini-split system i have but still isnt a heater during very cold periods. ... show more

I thought the pre-charged refrigerant lines were well engineered. I was a little concerned about doing them without a torque wrench, but they pretty much have stoppers you can tighten to which makes it really nice. Be wary of buying the suggested amazon wall bracket as it doesn't give enough clearance to the back wall to bend the refrigerant lines in, you'll need a good 10-12" room to the wall you mount it to (the mr cool separately sold bracket give you plenty of room to work with). I'd say it took me about 15 hours (including taking time to go buy some parts/tools I didn't have), but I had a complicated line-set run than most people would. I love the idea, Im very handy and love doing things around the house. Install was easy with the exception of getting an electrician out to hardwire a new 240v circuit, but that more of a regional problem. My biggest concern (and the reason I would never do this again or recommend anyone from buying this), is that the copper line sets, containing refrigerant, very, very, very easily bends and crimps. The first one I did crimped in 3places without my even realizing it, and I can tell you I was extremely careful with it. I suspect it was damaged upon delivery, but it took me a few months to find time to install it, so I was out of luck with even considering a warranty issue. I purchased a new line set, from MrCool, and low and behold, the same thing happened, even with an extreme abundance of caution. Do yourself a favor, pay the extra money and get a properly installed heat pump system. They can heat the copper pipes and bend with proper tools and you arent left with giant turns with your copper, or even worse, a crimped copper line. PS, no one will service these units because they don't make any money off the install, so you pay more on the back end by having to replace the whole thing ... show more

I ran a small gym in AZ and summers are brutal - this ended all that - it cools down my gym even with the big door partially open - and now in winter it warms up for early morning lessons ! Will not stay running for heat when it’s below 30 degrees. On and off. As soon as it gets house up to temp then it shuts off for 30 mins I assume to defrost but it’s not icing up inside or outside. Save yourself the trouble and get a quality hvac tech to install a real unit. Also Mr cool customer service is absolutely crap. Also doesn’t cool effectively especially when it’s 100 outside ... show more

Arrived on time. Easy to install, but takes some time. Had an electrician run the electrical from the panel to the cut off. Then I did the rest. It works great! My 3 car garage shop is the right temp. Well worth the money. I saved a ton with this do it yourself version. I had quotes from AC companies up to $12k. I got it done under $3,500 . ... show more
