I think I misunderstood what compact travel umbrella signifies. I was expecting a tiny lightweight umbrella that would fit in a small sling bag or purse for an upcoming trip to Italy. This is not it. It is much too large and much too heavy to tote around all day. It won't even fit in the sling bag or purse. I'm not taking away any stars though because the umbrella is very nice, especially considering the low price point. They clearly listed the dimensions so the misunderstanding was totally my fault. The umbrella is indeed smaller than our other umbrellas of this style by about an inch in length so it could be classified as compact. It is the perfect size to keep in the car for one person to use. It's a bit small for two people to fit comfortably and both stay dry. The button works well to deploy the umbrella as well as collapse the top. You still need to push the umbrella down into the handle until it latches. ... show more

Mr. Pen's motto on their labels is: Providing everyday needs. With this Windproof Umbrella, they are doing that, 100%. This "travel" umbrella is small enough to fit in a tote, a brief case - it's smaller than your average full size offering. However, it wasn't small on being impressive. It pops open instantly and the structure is solid. I haven't had a chance to test the "windproof" claim but every movement with this feels substantial. When it's time to put it away - you pull it back together with a click, wrap it up and back it goes into your tote. Over the years, I've seen $6.99 umbrellas, and they sure aren't what we have here.
