  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Regulators!!!
MountUp Anyone looking for desktop monitor mount knows there are a million&1 different mounts to choose from and they are all tied with good & bad reviews. Ranging from $30 - $300+ can make it hard to make a decision. Don't skip leg-day. Protect your investments. This MountUp arm is the cheapest route I would ever consider @ $77.00. This arm has a 26lb max-weight limit at full-stretch/reach/extend. That being said I would highly advise never going near any component's max-limit ratings. Although this monitor arm is very capable of holding that weight as I had to turn the negative tension of the arm over 10+ full rotations out of the box to set my 13lb Asus monitor. Once the monitor started to fall on its own from releasing tension, I then added tension till it stopped falling AND from that point I took it out 1 more full rotation. The clamps to these arms tend to be a lot sketchier than the arm itself. I am not using the desk mount in a traditional fashion, attached to a 5/8's thick bookshelf you can see it in the photos holding quite well at full reach. I do have a piece of 5/8's plywood I was going to use as a shim between clamp and bottom of the shelve. However, the mount did not give me a reason to do so. - clap hands - clap hands ** Note: if you are fully extended to the sides of the mount, the rubberized feet on the opposite side of the base will lift off the surface it's connected onto (added support underneath or thicker shelf/desk should alleviate problem). Reminder, it did that with a 13lb monitor which is half the weight of the mounts full weight limit attached to a materiel that is 5/8's in thickness and is rated at .4" for lowest thickness clamp ability. Not a deal breaker, just something to keep in mind. Held just fine, I was just able to see daylight under it and wanted to make mention of it and why you don't push max weight limit ratings. Because the stress of the weight in the arms/clamps weakest point the weight distribution is no longer balanced and centered (your capacity numbers are no longer the same). You are now relying on half of the clamp to support your monitors weight. The 4" metal clamp piece that is pressed underneath the desk/shelf is now distributing majority of the weight pressure to either side of it. Therefore 2-inches of that metal material is now mainly responsible for keeping your equipment safe. Main dislikes: The mount is a 3-piece design (most are). The hex key that turns in pushes a small piece of metal into a groove around the base it is connecting to. i.e. The lower arm into the clamp base and the upper arm into the lower arm. It is used to hold the pieces together in hopes that it doesn't come apart (slips off). It works, just not the best design the R&D department could have come up with. Next on the list would be cable management. It works, again, it could work better. Nothing a couple cable management ties can't fix. As it is designed to hold a couple cables just not many. *** Quick update - There is one major annoyance I have noticed with the tension screw from bracket to the upper-arm that controls the tilt-up/down. There is no free roaming with the tilt-function like you can with the main arm. Meaning you have to select your desired angle and tighten its fixed position from there via hex-key. I wouldn't be bothered by it so much if this was how it was originally intended to be (most cheaper versions are). BUT the simple fact they are using a "tension screw" tells me it should possess the same capabilities as the upper-arm does with the lower-arm and it does not. SO, I either really did receive a defective product OR it makes me feel as though it is a defective product. For that, I'm removing another star. Right out the box that screw was already extremely tight, after messing with it a few times trying to find its balance point I gave up. Its either on or off. I feel like I'm going to snap the bracket in half when trying to adjust the monitor by hand. The bracket attached to the arm fit like a glove into the back of my monitor. I was not subjected to using the extension adapter/screws even though it sits into the back of my monitor a little. I did however use the standard screws that came packaged with the mount because the head of the screws are designed to hold onto more material vs sitting flush into the material like the ones that came with my Asus monitor. Worked out great. So far, I am very happy with this product overall. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Gamechanger.
I love my monitor mount. This thing is great. I can now push the monitor all the way back and have loads of space on my desk. Or when I game I can pull it way forward without disturbing anything on my desk. When I use my steering wheel, I can pull way closer to my face. It's fantastic and I wished I had bought one a long time ago. Very versatile. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Exactly What I Needed!
Easy to assembly, but it moves a lot so I had to figure out how to tighten it. Also when I tried to lower it, it would spring back up. I love the range of motion. I wear glasses, but with the arm I can pull my monitor closer.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Not easy to wrestle into position at first, but now I'm happy with it.
I had to fight with it to get my monitor into the position and angle that I wanted. I have obsessive-compulsive disorder and a problem with perfectionism and had to use a carpenter's level to make sure the monitor was precisely horizontal. It bothered me for two weeks and I was constantly fixing it. It never seemed right. It is strong enough to hold up my unusually heavy 27 " 4K monitor with add-on acrylic screen protector. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Very Solid, Simple, and Worth the Price
Very easy to assemble with three heavy parts that just slide into place. The monitor attachment is very simple and easy to unscrew if you're switching it out. The tension adjustment is also easy to use. When it's all in place my monitor feels very solid and I can easily adjust it with my hands and it will stay in place perfectly. This was definitely on the pricier side but I think it's worth the cost because it feels solid, performs fantastic, is easy to assemble, disassemble and use, and it should last me many years. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Hefty, solid base. Required use of spacers for LG monitor.
Overall I've been happy with it so far. The mount is sturdy and straightforward to use, and the C-clamp fastening option is solid. The base of the C-clamp comes in from the edge of the desk at around 4", and it holds my ~13.5 lb LG monitor well. The cable management option is usable, and the VESA bracket may not be directly compatible with inlaid LG VESA mounts. For me, the size of the mounting bracket was off by less than 1mm, but VESA doesn't cover standardization of the brackets, only the spacing of screws. I used the spacers provided instead which sacrifices some stability, but someone with the proper tools could likely resolve this themselves. Just note, if you have a VESA mount that is inset into the monitor slightly, you may need to use the provided spacers and long screws unless you're willing to modify the bracket yourself. Will update this review should I encounter any issues. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars A worthy value entry
Build quality is excellent overall. 34" ultrawide screen mounted, well under the weight limit. The arm itself is solid and doesn't move when typing on a convertable desk. The range of motion is quite substantial and covers a lot of territory. The tension on the arm is adjustable for the weight of the screen and sets easily with a small allen wrench. The only downside is that the elbow joint itself is very stiff to move relative to competitors. It's not a massive pain to adjust, but it is noticeably harder to articulate the main elbow joint and rotate it left or right vs others. Definitely not a deal breaker, and for the overall quality of the unit and price, you should consider this a prime choice if you can't spring for the much more expensive brands. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Solid First Impressions
I bought 2 of these because they were 20% off while marketing a longer reach and heavier capacity only to realize after I bought it that they had no reviews. But whatever I'll make the gamble. So far it was fairly easy to assemble (Note: I had my own tools) but there are a few considerations to make. The included backplate was too large for one of my monitors (Gigabyte M27Q) so I had to use the included spacers and included longer screws. The included backplate is a sturdy plastic but I would have preferred metal. It's maneuverability is great but maybe requires a bit of force for my other monitor (Acer VG270U P) which is definitely heavier (maybe it requires more tuning). It has great cable management channels to run your cables up and I'm not the type to cable manage but it was too easy. 7/10 First Impressions which hopefully goes up over time. ... show more
