  • Works Ok but
Works Ok but too many cranks to tighten so is a bit awkward to set up and not as rigid as some of the other types. All in all fair value for the price.

  • Great mic stand!
Well made boom mic stand! Light weight and easy to transport. My one recommendation is that you put a nylon ankle weight on this to prevent tipping when boom is extended. No need to take weight on and off as this stand will still fold down nicely with the weight still attached, Will purchase additional stands when need arises. Great product! ... show more

  • connections have some wiggle, but seems sturdy enough
Two-mic stands are few, and I found a lot of mixed reviews about them. This one isn't perfect, but I think it will work for my needs. My husband and I both sing, he plays guitar, and I play mountain (lap) dulcimer, so we perform seated and need two mics apiece but don't want to deal with extra stands if we don't have to. Metal stand and boom arm seem like strong metal, although connecting parts are plastic, so I will try not to overtax them. You can adjust the angle and extension of the boom, which is good for our instruments. The top mic attachment is pretty inconvenient--it's hard to get close enough to pick up voices. A 13" gooseneck ($8.99) solved that problem--good thing I only paid $22 for the stand. Used at its shortest height, with gooseneck and boom projecting a short distance (aligned with a tripod leg), it does not seem tippy. I do notice a little wiggle between the post and the tripod legs and between the post and the boom, which I would rather not have but doesn't seem like a deal-breaker. We'll see, I guess. Note that the stand has 3/8" male ends--which is good for my German mics, but I had to use adapters with the 5/8" gooseneck. The included mic clips come with 3/8" female-to-5/8" male adapters inside (plastic)--and they grip mics pretty tightly. I'm not sure whether we will use the bright blue foam mic covers...would have preferred black. ... show more

  • Simple Jerry-Rig
Simple Jerry-Rig gives this mic stand a 4 star rating, almost a five because the company certainly got it right. Too bad so many folks submitted poor reviews only because it tips a bit. I simply attached "two" 2 pound weights as shown and this puppy absolutely goes no where. There's enough room for even one 5 lb weight, or heck, a small sand bag. It's built solid, very easy to assemble, easy to adjust the many different angles. And there were no missing screws or stripped threads. Actually the only screws are already in place. I definitely would recommend this.🎤 ... show more

  • Use as straight mike stand with boom, or a very TALL stand.
I was extremely happy with this product. Although some of it is plastic, much of it IS made of metal - the IMPORTANT parts - and it is more versatile than you think. You can use the boom to mike up an acoustic guitar, and the other section to do the voice mike. Or...you can hang the boom vertically and raise it up enough to reach the Jolly Green Giant if you wish. You can even put two mikes side by side if you want. The connections are solid, and when using a mike stand with plastic connections and adjusters, just remember they don't have to be tightened down to ridiculous levels. You don't NEED to keep tightening them until they break, because they will hold just fine with modest tightening. Just snug them up a bit, and then leave them be. By doing this, your adjusters will last a very long time. The biggest mistake people make with these is thinking they need to be torqued down everywhere like head bolts on an engine. Just an easy snug-down is all you need. Don't REEF them down, as they say. No need to do that. A gentle 'snug' is all you need. The stand comes with two holders for microphones and some fairly high quality wind socks that will fit over any mike. If you are looking for solid quality at a low price point, you just found it. The tripod legs are very stable, made of metal, and have plastic foot pads on the ends. The fact that it is lighter than a more expensive all-metal stand is a bonus. I wouldn't use it for a heavy metal concert with all the flinging and bashing around that goes on with such a thing, but for normal uses you won't get any better at this price. This stand will be used next summer in combination with a stereo/PA system at a wilderness festival for the famous 'DB Cooper,' the only skyjacker in US history who got away with it. I've tested it for both karoake and PA use for this event, and it works just great. If you want to know more about all that, just Google up Adventure Books of Seattle and you can't miss it. ... show more

  • Good but not great mic stands
I purchased of set of these mic stands due to their economical price. Unfortunately, they did not meet my needs. They're very lightweight, which makes them easy to carry but comes at a disadvantage. They do not have enough weight in the base legs to keep them from tipping over. They will stay in place if you do not touch them, but if you happen to bump into them just the slightest, they can tip over. They also lean slightly to one side because the mic boom arm is not centered and is off to the side based on it's design to support 2 mics. ... show more
