Description

Fail-Safe Thermostats offer premium, patented technology for superior protection over any thermostat on the market. Only Fail-Safe is designed to lock in the open position when overheating occurs due to a failing cooling system component. This allows maximum coolant flow, thus preventing expensive engine damage.

The thermostat was defective out of the box and springs were jammed so was open. I unknowingly installed and waisted time and money. Buy something else.

  • 1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ inline 6 4.0 engine.
Remember to place the thermostat in the perfectly sized recess in the forward facing end of the engine. It should perch in there just fine and allow you to put the water inlet back on. I always forget how the tensioner works on this engine. There are two bolts on the back of the power steering pump, one on the front top (near center) and one on the bottom front. There's an adjustment bolt coming out from that lower bolt area, which you turn clockwise to tighten. You'll put the pump back in place keep the top bolt in but loose, add the 2 rear bolts, and pull the power steering pump to tighten the belt. Tighten the bolts on the back, but not snug. Tighten the adjustment on the side, then tighten the aforementioned bolts to tighten the belt back into place. ... show more

  • Real Thermostat with Overheat Protection
Thermostat fit my 99 Jeep Wrangler 2.5L. Thermostat will stay open if Engine Overheats for some reason or is worn out. Instead of Failing Closed it Fails Open so Coolant can Circulate thru Engine. I only Noticed mine Failed is when it got Cold Outside and The Heater Temp never blew Hot Air and Temp Gauge was at 100 Therefore Suggesting Low Antifreeze or Stuck Thermostat, After Checking Coolant Level and Seeing it was Full I went to Thermostat and sure was Stuck Open. Failing Open still lets Coolant Flow but Engine Runs Cold or Below Normal because the Thermostat is wide open. Works Just Fine ... show more
