A few days back I needed to pick my mom up at the airport. I live in Texas and it was 101 degrees as I left the house for the airport. Driving down the highway at 85 MPH (right at the speed limit!!) I noticed my thermostat was riding almost at boil over levels. I backed it down to 60 MPH (had folks look at me funny) and got my temp under control. 18 years on the original thermostat was a good run, but it needed to be replaced. I popped this one in today and took her back out on the road for a test ride at 85MPH. Rock solid temps all the ways out and back. Perfect fit & function. FYI... comes with a gasket. This is a really good brand that I was not familiar with and had no experience with. I had replaced the thermostat in my Nissan several times using other "well-known" / "famous" brands with the correct temperatures, but still had close to over heating problems in the summer time, despite all new water pump, hoses, fans and very high quality radiator. This thermostat fixed those over heating problems. You can actually notice the temperature gauge going down when the thermostat opens! Car maintains the same great temperature now that it did when it was new. I highly recommend. Oh yeah - don't forget to order a thermostat gasket! there was none in my box when I opened it. ... show more

An Amazon search for a 2010 FX35 Thermostat produced the Motorad 343-180. The FX35 is in my Amazon "Garage" and Amazon confirmed that the part did indeed fit my year and model vehicle. As you can see from the photos, this is not the case. The part I received had a much thinner body which would have required me to purchase 1/2" shorter mounting bolts, if I'd wanted to try that option. But also - the thermostat mechanism, itself, was less beefy than the factory thermostat, so I'm not sure it would have met factory standards and worked properly. Of course, you only discover these kinds of issues AFTER you have removed the original thermostat and made your vehicle immobile. I decided to uber to the dealer to get a new part (for only $15.00 more) so I could finish my project quickly and on the same day I started it. While I haven't had too many problems with the parts search in the past, this was a lesson learned. Amazon's parts search feature has flaws and the Motorad 343-180 does not fit a 2010 Infiniti FX35. Unfortunately, I found this out too late to return the part. So, if anyone needs a nice ugly paperweight and has an FX35, this is the product to order! ... show more

    • Almost exactly what we needed. Not exactly, but almost.
Just as Juan (previous commentor) stated, the height of the base is NOT the same as the original thermostat for my 2007 G35 sedan. Thanks to Juan's information (warning), I also purchased a multi-pack of stainless steel washers, just in case my experience mirrored his...and it did. I wound up having to use a quantity of five 1/16" washers to offset the difference in height (0.3125"). That's quite a difference between the two units and the reason why this item loses a star. Other than the physical height being extremely off the mark, the unit appears to be rather solidly constructed. INFINITI SEDAN OWNERS, TAKE NOTE: You'll find that many sites, and even parts places, will state that a different thermostat design is compatible with your engine. While it does fit the bolt pattern, it is NOT compatible. The other thermostat has an additional water outlet (for another, smaller diameter hose that leads to the oil cooler...if memory serves). The thermostat with the water outlet is for the coupe, NOT the sedan. ... show more
