Switching power supply draws 0.28mA with no load. No need for a power switch since idle current is so low. I will disconnect when I put the bike up for winter.

I bought this July 5th, received it on time, worked fine for a while. A while = not even a year. I ensure that any time it was about to rain I put the rubber cover over the usb ports. Yet one morning around one month ago to 6 weeks ago ( It's now 4-29-20 as of writing this review) it just stopped working. Tried multiple usb phone charging cords with my cell phone, tried multiple cords to charge my gopro hero 7 blacks...nothing. Tried those exact same cords in my pc's usb ports and my power strip as well as with wall warts...ALL of those worked. So..there are some things that " you get what you pay for". Don't waste your money on this cheap crap. Buy a quality single or multiple usb port charging deal for your motorcycle and be done with it. ... show more

I’ve used these Motopower MP0609AA’s in the past on various motorcycles and find them to be about the best way to add USB power to my ATVs and Motorcycles. As you can see from the photos, our machines get exposed to the weather and we’ve never had an issue with these units failing. They are unobtrusive and are easily tucked in or hidden in most applications. I prefer to mount them either on the handlebars or right under the seat (or both) for use with not only my phone/gps, but they also come in handy for plugging in heated gear that is powered by USB. One note: Be sure you are providing ample, fused power to them. I’m happy with my purchase and will buy again. ... show more

Is easy to install and long enough for probably any motorcycle. I have a TW200 and it was plenty of cable for my bike. My only complaint is that the power out put for the USB is a bit high and I was afraid it could damage my phone (iPhone)... so I got also another "end piece" (from the brand "Battery Tender") so now the output is closer to the one from the original iPhone charger. Now it's almost the same to the charger of an ipad, instead of being double the iPad charger output as it was before my "modification". Other than that it works great, water resistant and is easy to mount on the handlebars (or any other place). It comes with a small mount with holes for the zip-ties that come with it. No more dead phone batteries. :) UPDATE: FROM 4 stars to 3. All the sudden after a couple of months it doesn't work. It's just the USB part... I attached the end of the other brand (battery tender and that one works fine... so just half of it is broken. I have try everything I can come up with to make it work and it just doesn't work. I even cleaned up with a special spray for electronics and nothing. :( I was happy having a back up option but now only one of my options work... I'll update again if i'm able to make it work. :( ... show more

The concept is good, the workmanship is junk. I have ordered four of these type of USB ports, three without the cable connection caps, and this one with the caps. Two of the others worked out of the box, one the connections were not crimped inside the 10 amp fuse case, so the wires just pull out. And this one, same danged thing. On this one the cable towards the USB dongle is making contact at the fuse, but the battery side of the cable was just pushed into the female side of the spade connection. If this product is crimped, it works great. But 50% come with the sealed portions not crimped. I just cut the fuse holder out and added my own. ... show more

Wire is a very small gauge. Insulation is very thick and product is deceiving. A little to much tension on the wires will cause the wire to break inside. I spent some time finding where the circuit was broken and found it to be in the power wire that you run along your bike. Other than that, the product looks very good on the outside. If you do buy, dont pull on the wire or have any tension. ... show more

Item was easy to install, the leads weren't long enough for me to mount the charger on my handlebars but I just tucked everything under the side cover of my bike and ran a usb cord from there to my phone holder. Worked great for one day, put out enough power to charge my phone with the screen on full brightness and music and navigation apps running. Unfortunately, sometime during the night the thing shorted out and melted down. On the plus side, the fuse did it's job before anything else was damaged. We did have a light rain during the night and when I took the charger of my bike, water ran out of the case. Even with the cap on the unit is NOT waterproof. I bought this product because it was much cheaper and looked identical to the one at my local motorcycle store. I installed it on my bike and it would only work 20% of the time, and never work if my motorcycle wasn't actually running. Switched it for one from the motorcycle store (also installed myself) and the replacement works great. It was twice as expensive but at least it works. Be warned! ... show more
