Solidly Made
This light is very solidly made, and has a good heft in the hand. You won't forget that you're holding it, that's for sure. Nor will you forget that it's in your pack - it isn't a light-weight light. The body has the appearance of black-anodized aluminum, with lots of knurling, which makes it very easy to hold on to. The control collar is in bright red, so it's easy to see where to turn it on, even in dim light. It's also easy to find that collar with no light at all, and since you can rotate through the settings in either direction, it's easy to turn on and find what you want. It is a very bright light, with two illumination settings (and two tracking settings), so that's very versatile. The USB-C charging port is disposed under a rubber-like cap that is retained to the main body of the flashlight after you peel it back. I didn't test how waterproof that cap might be, but it seems sufficient to guard against inadvertent splashes and rain. There is a clear plastic piece over the area of the charging port. I'm not sure what it's intended function might be, but it tends to spread out the illumination from the LED lamp that glows red during charging, and then turns green when charging is completed. I'm please to report that it can negotiate for power from a PD, so you don't have to use an old-fashioned single-voltage charger. I was a bit concerned about that, because it comes with a cable that has a USB-C connector on one end and a USB-A connector on the other, which often means that you have to use an old-style power supply. The fit and finish of this light are perfect, with no surface flaws, mars, or other imperfections. I haven't gone hunting with it yet, so I can't speak to the tracking functions that it offers. I like it. Highly recommended. ... show more

High quality flashlight with blood tracker modes
As a hunter, I have wished for a better light for tracking a blood trail. There's nothing worse than the potential of loosing game due to poor tracking conditions. This Mossy Oak Blood Tracking Flashlight might be the key to resolving this problem. Since the season has just begun and I yet to have a blood trail of any kind, I can only speak to the light itself and hope that the blood tracking modes work close to as advertised. I will say just from a flashlight only perspective, this light is great. The size is just a bit larger than hand size. Which is fine because it packs a punch with bright LED's, rechargeable battery, and various modes. I love the rotating on, function, off spinner and selector. It operates so smooth and gives an nice option by option response when you land on one. There are 3 light modes and 2 blood modes. It gets nice and bright on the highest setting. If you watch the video attached to this review it shows them all. Meanwhile, this light is very rugged and durable feeling. All aluminum body so it's not too heavy. It is also IP67 waterproof. Plus the shaft has a nice grip textured rubber for secure carrying. All these features make it an excellent hunting flashlight to keep in your pack. As noted, the blood tracking mode is what I'm most interested in. Unfortunately I can't test that yet to be sure how it works. I'm hoping it makes those drops reflect and stand out as intended. If not, at least I got an awesome flashlight out of it. Price for this brand and feature seem very fair as well. ... show more

Excellent Hunting Flashlight, but Blood Tracking Isn't Magic
Anyone who has ever tried following a blood trail after dark knows how difficult it can be, especially when you're dealing with fallen leaves, grass, and other ground cover. That's what makes this Mossy Oak flashlight interesting. It combines a dedicated blood tracking light with a powerful conventional flashlight, eliminating the need to carry two separate lights. The flashlight itself has a lot going for it. The aluminum construction, textured grip, and substantial feel give it the appearance of a quality piece of hunting equipment. The rotary selector is also a nice design choice. Rather than repeatedly clicking a button to cycle through settings, you can turn the collar to select the lighting mode you want. There are three white-light settings, including a bright 1,000-lumen mode, along with two dedicated blood tracking modes. One provides continuous illumination, while the other alternates the colored lights to help distinguish blood from the surrounding vegetation. I particularly like having a conventional white flashlight built into the same unit, since you still need to see where you're walking and navigate through the woods while tracking. The rechargeable 4,500mAh battery is another advantage. USB-C charging is convenient, and the advertised battery life is generous, although actual runtime will depend on the brightness and tracking modes being used. The IP67 waterproof rating is also reassuring for hunting equipment that may be exposed to rain, snow, or wet ground. The one area where I'd temper expectations is the blood tracking feature itself. These lights aren't magic, and blood doesn't necessarily glow brightly against every background. The effectiveness can vary depending on the amount of blood, the vegetation, and the lighting conditions. The alternating mode is an interesting feature that may help with contrast, but I wouldn't expect it to make every faint blood trail immediately obvious. Overall, I think this is a well-designed hunting flashlight with some genuinely useful additional features. Even setting aside the specialized tracking modes, the bright white light, solid construction, rechargeable battery, and weather resistance make it a practical addition to a hunting pack. The blood tracking capability is a worthwhile bonus, but I'd consider it another tool to help recover game rather than a guaranteed solution for finding a difficult trail. ... show more

Bright, waterproof, USB-C rechargeable, Emergency Flashing, & Blood tracking
Very Bright Flashlight with Multiple Modes and Great Battery Life This Mossy Oak flashlight is impressively bright and has several different lighting modes, including a flashing red light mode. The white light puts out plenty of brightness, making it useful for hunting and other outdoor activities, especially at night. I haven’t had a chance to test the blood tracking mode yet, so I can’t say how well it actually highlights blood trails. However, the flashlight itself has worked very well so far. One thing that really stands out is the battery life. It lasts a surprisingly long time between charges, and I really like that it recharges through USB-C instead of needing disposable batteries. The waterproof design is another nice feature, especially for something intended to be used outdoors in unpredictable weather. Overall, I’m happy with the brightness, different lighting options, and long battery life. The only thing I still need to test is the actual blood tracking feature, but as a general purpose hunting flashlight, it has been great. Great value for the price ... show more

Incredible light
I am over the top impressed by this light. I have two other blood tracking lights that I bought just to see how they compare to each other. One tends to light red things up a little on the orange side, and the other a reddish pink. The orange one is not as brilliant as the pink, but they were both adequate. Then came along this beauty. This thing lights, the red up like a firework. Not only that, but it has a strobe effect for the blood tracking light that makes it pop even more. It’s like a little flashing light of blood to tell you exactly where to look. It lights the blood up in a very bright, pure red color. All of my other lights are purely blood trackers, this is also a regular flashlight with three brightness settings. As with any flashlight, I do wish it had an option for a removable rechargeable battery. This does recharge via USB connection, so just make sure to charge it after every couple of uses. ... show more

A small flashlight that packs a punch! Battery lasts and the different lights are nice!
A pretty nice flashlight that is made well. The aluminum body is solid, and the wrist lanyard works well to secure your flashlight. The flashlight did hold up in water, by mistake on my part. It was in a bucket of water, 1 foot for a few seconds, no leaks and it still works. The twist to turn on is nice and you can cycle through the different lights and able to select the one you want even quicker. Really easy to use! The rechargeable battery does recharge, fully, in less than four hours. Not sure how long the usage will be because I use different lights for different things, but it has lasted over 14 hours so far. The price for this flashlight is reasonable with other like items, but this one does offer a little more than most. This flashlight is durable and easy to use. It does have some weight to it for the size, but it is a great flashlight for all occasions. ... show more

Great beefy light with powerful beams. Blood illumination is....functional, just not thrilling.
As a flashlight first, this thing is impressive. Very powerful beam, can actually heat materials, potentially to even start a fire. I crumbled dry dark colored tree leaves, and put leaves into my palm, cupped up close (millimeters) from the lense/LED elements and literally had smoke within a few seconds. The on/off and beam type selector is unusual, using a rotary style collar. Finding the exact spot that references your current setting frequently involved turning the unit round and round, until you see the mark. A physical index mark that you can feel would have been helpful. On to the blood detection mode--there are two modes that leverage a several additional LED elements in red and blue. From front on viewing, it looks a bit like a police light (red and blue). The spotting and usage to detect blood is not quite what I'd had expected. Not as vibrant or reactive as I was hoping. Blood took on a drab color that did stand out a bit from the foliage, which provided some usefulness, but you really have to look DIRECTLY at the area being illuminated to see the blood spots. It wasn't like just a general directional shine that revealed any level of fluorescence, just a drab muted color of blood. It's not like a black light that illuminates vividly. If there's plenty of spotting or puddles, the light can help if it's dark, otherwise, you can see the blood easier with natural light in the daylight. I'd still keep this handy in case I couldn't find a blood trail at all. Overall, this is a quality light unit, very impressive as a flash light. The blood highlighting was less than I'd hoped, but on par for what I actually expected. ... show more
