I've purchased two of these units. For the first year or two, this product worked great. It would capture a ton of mosquitos and it was very easy and simple to operate. However, in year 2, this is where the problems would start. They would range everywhere from a faulty ignitor, clogged carburetor, damaged regulator valve, etc. The challenge is that all of these problems would have occur a month or two after the 1-year warranty. It's too bad because it's such a good product when it's new, it just doesn't last very long at all. ... show more

    • Still not as attractive to mosquitoes as me.
This is the second one I’ve had. The first one had to be returned because it wouldn’t stay running. This one has been running nonstop for about 3 weeks now and so far I don’t notice a reduced mosquito population. I still get eaten alive when I go out at dusk. The trap doesn’t have as many mosquitoes as I expected, but admittedly, it could have been in the wrong location. I just moved it to a better place. I can see the mosquitoes hovering around it. I hope the trap will fill up quicker now. I think mosquito magnet should make attractant based off of my chemistry, though. Because if I go near the thing, they all start swarming me instead. ... show more

    • It's expensive but it works when you dumb down the electronics
I received my mosquito magnet damaged and parts missing. The plume tube has three tabs on it, two of which are broken. I did not receive a quick clear adapter or an instructional CD. I bought this new and it seems as though it may be a returned product as the box itself was pretty beat up. My last mosquito magnet worked excellent and I suspect that this one too will work the same. I will change my rating as soon as I can get in touch with the seller to discuss possibly replacing the plume and definitely getting the quick clear adapter. ***UPDATE*** - Rating now down to 1 star, I have to disconnect and reconnect the battery EVERY MORNING because it goes into "Attention" mode without letting me know what's wrong with it. The problem here is that whenever it shuts itself down, anything that was trapped and still alive has the opportunity to escape...and they do escape. So far I am extremely disappointed with this machine. The more gadgets they put on these things the less they seem to work. I'll give this another week and then I'm returning it if it has not resolved on its own. ***UPDATE*** - So, I turned off everything it has to do with automation. Now, it runs constantly (like it should) and it is attracting mosquitoes (spell-check insists that this spelling is correct), black flies, horsefly's, and what I'm assuming are male mosquitoes (?). I like it. Why 2 stars? Glad you asked! This thing is ridiculously overpriced but hey, what are you going to do? If I could have found the cheaper model that doesn't offer the bells and whistles then I would have gotten it....the "Liberty" was it? I had that one before and loved it. The bells and whistles are USELESS because when the machine turns itself off, it cannot turn itself back on and whatever was alive has the opportunity to escape because the trap door was left open with no fan running...CLOSE THE FRONT DOOR! lol I don't really like that it is battery operated also...I didn't realize it until I got it (my fault). I can't complain yet though because the battery is still going strong and I have yet to charge it. I will update as I get more info. ... show more

I live on a marsh so you can imagine how many mosquitoes fly into my house if I have the door open. I positioned the machine between me and the marsh and it is amazing. I’ve had this type of machine before, but the fact that the battery allows it to go anywhere in the yard is absolutely amazing. No cord anywhere. I dont usually write reviews however I felt the need to write this one. I live in NJ and we had a very wet spring and humid summer so the skeeters were everywhere and no respect for the apex predators of the world......lol I purchased the most expensive MM thinking, hey no wires means I can place it anywhere in the yard. I purchased the bought together stuff thinking I would need them and....NOT. The air canister things dont even go with this machine. It assembled easy and I placed it in the yard. I have a half acre with woods behind the house. I placed it at the rear of the yard next to the woods. After a few days I checked it hoping to see alot of dead mosquitos and to my disappointment maybe a dozen or so. I ended up moving the thing all around the yard in different spots and to my surprise, NOTHING....again and again. After 3 weeks I went to check on it again and found the battery was dead. I charged it for 12 hours found the light green and placed it back in the machine. It turned on for a second and would not stay on. I called MM customer service and they told me to charge the battery for 24 hours, if that didnt work there may be a problem with the main part of the machine or I would have to purchase a pack of 2 new batteries. I was stunned by this response. This was purchased 3 weeks ago!! I charged the battery for 24 hours and it did not work. I sent it back battery and all...... and it didnt work very well at attracting mosquitos......I attract more sitting in the yard...... buyer, look for another option. ... show more
