We were so happy with this hammock initially, we even ordered a second one within a month. Less than a year later one of them split right down the middle. The description of the product is contradicting. It states it holds up to 550 lbs, but then the details state the maximum for one person is 275 (after you convert the kg into lbs.) The description also says it is durable and non-pilling. This is neither durable, nor is it non-pilling. Here is a visual that should help display what went wrong. I pushed myself up on my elbow to look at the person in the hammock next to me and my elbow went right through it. I should probably add that I do not have knives for elbows, nor was my entire body being supported by my elbow like some sort of weird breakdancer. The very next day I tried to diffuse the problem by lining the top of the injured hammock with a comforter- thinking that it might disperse the weight of the user over a wider area - similar to laying down on ice, to prevent falling through. I carefully straddled the hammock and lowered myself gingerly. It seemed to work until I sat up (again straddling the unit so as to put my weight on both legs) and the unit split in the exact center of the hammock and then quickly the split ran from one end to the other. At this point, my bottom was on the floor and my knees were up by my ears and feet were in the air. It must have looked like the world’s weirdest gynecologist exam, mixed with Tom Hanks scene in The Money Pit, where he falls into a hole in the floor that was was hidden by a carpet and thus is hanging down to the floor below, but suspended by the carpet. After I laughed until I nearly wet myself and the dog whined and barked nervously at my guffaws and thrashing about, I was able to grab the hammock edges to pull myself to a standing position like a mountain climber. Our hammocks have never been exposed to the elements, they are only used in a covered screen porch and we have never exceeded the weight limit (either of them). Is it comfortable? Yes - until it splits and your bottom lands on the floor with your knees and feet are above your head, which is not comfortable, nor is this position easy to escape from. Is it durable? Yes, until it is not, at which point it doesn’t break down in one spot - it practically explodes. Is it sturdy? Yes - until it is not. For the price, I guess you could consider this a good deal on a disposable, 1 summer only product….. This is easy to store. While it is not broken - we could easily unhook one end and hang it off to the side. Once it is no longer functional, it stores brilliantly in a garbage can. ... show more

Never had a hammock before. Why did I wait this long? Comfy. I like the anti-roll bars at both ends. Very stable. The ropes that come with it are not great, and would scar a tree. I bought straps, and they worked great. The metal inserts for the loops at the ends of the hammock fall out. Not much help. ... show more

The only thing that I didn’t like too much was that it didn’t fit my old frame the same way, I had to do some slight adjustments. HOWEVER, in all do honesty, this is probably NOT made to replace my old one. I do like that it has a wood bar at the ends that helps stabilize it better
