  • An amazing looking game....but a few issues
Platform: Xbox One Edition: Premium
I have been pretty impressed with the graphics in this game. As a fighting game it is very solid, although I tend to prefer more 3D fighting games like Dead or Alive or Soul Calibur. There is however some controversy surrounding this game, some that I agree with and some that is totally silly. First, what I agree with on the negative buzz. It is a very grinding away kind of game. It will take a lot of time to unlock everything, (costumes, extra moves) and there is also the option to just buy these things for additional real cash. This is a horrible trend in many games these days, and I totally agree with these companies getting a lot of flack over it, for very basic consumer reason. I have though heard that this game is working already to fix some of that, which would be fine with me. What I don;t agree with.... Some players are upset with the female models and costumes. They want more skimpy and bigger bust lines like past MK games. I would be OK with some of the older revealing outfits, but I think whats there is amazing a gorgeous. The hanging robes move naturally. The textures on each fabric really comes alive. The character designs are amazing and highly detailed. I also am so pleased that MK finally has gotten the female form right. In the past, even though those games were good, it always felt like the females were designed by a 13 year old...a 13 year old that could only draw muscle men. This is of course my opinion. Very simply that graphics are breathtaking....and Kitana looks stunning Other things I disagree with (and keep in mind I have not finished the story).... Some are very rattled that one of the black characters uses time altering, to go back in time and get rid of slavery. A lot think its too political and against white people (I'm white BTW).... Now maybe its not done 100% great as a side story ending, I don't know yet....but the idea I think is pretty cool. If you could change time, you wouldn't do something like this?....the character is ending slavery, slavery that effected people in his past. If that's too political then maybe we all should be more political. Hint...ending slavery is a good thing. This is a great fighting game. The visuals are a lesson to other fighting games. For me the largest issue is how slow and long it will take for me to unlock stuff. If they fix this, I'll have little to complain about....If they don't I still will enjoy whats there, but I will not support any of their future projects....Enough of this paying even more money for what use to be just part of the game in the past. Enough of the dirty tricks to try to get me to spend that money. ... show more

  • Bad Packaging/ Handling
Platform: Xbox One Edition: Premium
After waiting for so long for the release of MK11, I was so disappointed with the packaging/ handling. This is supposed to be a collectible (Premium Edition). The case has a dent and the plastic liner has a crack. The only one thing that prevents me from sending this back is my son who is so eager to play this game. I’m so disappointed AMAZON. ... show more

  • Pretty good game, a few “howevers”
Platform: Xbox One Edition: Premium
Edit: yeah it’s a lot of fun, they did a fantastic job with this one but I stick with what I originally wrote. If you liked MkX, it’s very very similar, but it’s very clearly an upgrade which I like. No, I didn’t get the beta code either but not an issue for me, the game was a bit buggy at first, but seems ok to me. I ran and did the story mode first, I thought that was fun, however at the same time, the fighting felt very out of place. I’d say they pulled it off but barely. As for the fighting, it feels pretty smooth and straight forward, most finishers are a LOT easier than MKX (some I guess are a bug? takes a few tries), again however, there’s another gigantic part to the game which is the krypt. You have to walk around smashing things and unlocking chests to get finishers, alternate outfits, etc. It’s “ok” but honestly I just want to grab the stuff for my favourite characters and the rest can stay as incomplete. It’s a bit too big and yes, it’s a HUGE grind. I also like what they did with the towers, the living ones are timed and I stick with this mode, just the most fun for me at the moment. What I don’t like is you can upgrade the characters gear, with augments and you can use consumables in the middle of a tower... yeah I just skip that. It’s mortal kombat not an rpg where if I roll a 7 I get 20% of my health back. It’s great you can change outfits and the look etc., but you have to find them in the krypt, towers... again a grind. It’s a lot of fun and a good game but I don’t see myself playing this past a few months, definitely not that kind of a game sadly. Can get repetitive and as I said it can get like a grind, but right now I’m enjoying so hopefully it’ll be alright until they release more characters. As for the characters: find your favourite and stick with him/her, decent amount of choices but I’m glad I found 2/3 that I mastered, even still they need a lot more (no goro? No Cyrax?) but I’m assuming a lot more will be added later on. ... show more

  • Best fighting game of year!
Platform: Xbox One Edition: Premium
Love the steel case and gold dragon logo! The gameplay is improved greatly since the beta. Excellent gameplay, roster size and selection is great, story mode is unbelievably good and the krypt is exciting with lots of adventure! Online mechanics flow smoothly and the user interface is excellent. By far one of the best mortal kombat games in the last decade! Dont believe any of the bad reviews you see, those people always have something to complain about. True fans of mortal kombat will enjoy this game fruitfully. ... show more

  • Dont be cheap! Just buy it, it’s worth if
Platform: Xbox One Edition: Premium
The game is awesome, i bought premium version and ive really enjoyed it. Story line is pretty good, it’s a mix of what Og players would know from early 90’s with a mix of the ps2 generation of characters with some new people for the next generation of kids playing. The online part is fun, but wish you had more characters to choose from after a while like Reptile, Nightwolf, Ermac etc etc The krypt is really neat its very well thought out and fun to play. Hint: there is a way to run There is too much content though I feel, why does every character have 40 outfites to choose from but hardly any charscters to chose from. This game has great pontetial to really be over the top if they tweak it early Better then 9, story is prob my fav yet but d I fealt X was cleaner and more organized with awesome combos ... show more
