First, the reason for holding back a star. There seems to be a scratch (mostly on surface, not deep) and a couple blemishes on the plates--even though it was well-wrapped in plastic. It doesn’t seem to cause any snagging or issues to the hair, though, I don’t know if it actually could cause any future issues. Also, in my situation, this isn’t a huge deal (yet still a bummer) but I know this cost a pretty penny so if I had set out to purchase this on my own and it was that way I would hope it would be in perfect shape. Hopefully it’s a one-time deal but felt it’s worth noting, just in case! Aside from that… Everything else about it is perfect! It’s a heavy-duty, good quality iron. The coloring is so pretty. Even with the scratch, the plates mirror and look so sleek. It heats up VERY fast! The digital display makes it easy to set your temp (up to 450 degrees) and lets you know what number it’s at. Quickly smooths out even this thick, coarse and curly hair. It doesn’t take but a couple pass throughs of a section (this could vary slightly depending on how the hair is dried and products used). All-in-all, despite the blemishes I experienced, I feel everything else about it makes it a fantastic flat iron! ... show more

Easy to handle. Love the "Buttons" on the inside of the handles. Let me assure you it smooths hair beautifully and far surpasses cheaper brands. I was very skeptical upon purchasing such an extravagant item but it is an investment you will not regret.
