I bought this for my European style living quarter horse trailer. There was no good place to attach an awning and it is always just me at shows etc, so I hate the pop up style canopies set up for one person. I needed a place to give me cover out of rain and/or sun. I took it this weekend to my horse event. My kit included heavy duty suction cups. The moon shade, ropes, anchors, instructions and poles; allbb but in a nice little lightweight storage bag. Set up was pretty straightforward other than tying the extensions which enable you to clip the canopy up high to the rings when mounted. I initially had trouble getting the suction cups to stay put on the fiberglass waxed shell. They came off 4 times once I attached the canopy to them. I ended up scrubbing off the wax and adding water to the cups. After that they stayed put. I had a ladder, so I didn’t mess with the extension. Once the cups stayed in place everything was great. We had light winds and a downpour for one day and everything stayed put and kept my boots and entryway dry. I think I will order the 3m suction cup mounts, as I constantly worried that they were going to fall off. Other than that, everything was sturdy and made the bad weather tolerable and gave me a respite from sun and rain. It was easy to put up, easy to take down and store and I look forward to seeing how durable it is. For now, I can’t rate this as I haven’t had it long enough to test. I will update after I have used it for awhile.

Purchased to replace my camper's original awning... attached the Moonshade to the rack on my camper, then used the poles and lashed it down; then camped 5 days in the Colorado mountains with rain, wind, hail and it worked perfectly and never detached or flapped around. I was very impressed. It was easy to setup and breakdown and the material is hi quality. A great addition to my camp setup.

This is a really great awning. It comes in a very compact case that's easy to carry and transport. It's incredibly easy to put up, I did it on my own straight out of the bag for the first time in under 10 minutes. We used suction cups and while they did stick they came off a few times and so we are looking for a more permanent option. We may purchase the drilled hooks from the same company in the future. With the stake tie downs this is fine for when there's wind. It's attractive, easy to handle and the perfect awning for our little Scamp travel trailer!

I’m giving it a two star not because of the quality of the product. The product itself is very well-made top-notch. However, ordering it through Amazon, the company states in their spec that it includes a strut pole and two small suction cups along with the other parts. My first order came in with those but no 7 foot strut and no small suction cups. There is no way of physically talking to somebody at Moonshade. Everything is done by email. So I returned the first one and specified on the return missing parts. I ordered a second one because I was going on vacation and a new one came the very next day. It too was also missing the exact same parts as you will see in their description from the company below. Very disappointing when you’re expecting to use the strut bar and it doesn’t show up. I’ve emailed the company 3×1st time they said they would send me out a strut bar but I already told them I returned it so I’ve emailed them two times asking them to send because the second one came in the same way as the first. I have yet to heard back from them. Here’s what it says. It includes in the Amazon spec. It is light weight, not different to setup and very useful for my class b RV for the door area when it rains. But the suction cups used to attach the awning to the vehicle are not strong enough. They could fall out quite some time. We purchased a pair of moderate strong Magnets to do the job, and that worked really well. I see many similar comments to the suction cups. I think this product should be equipped with a pair of stronger magnets instead of letting buyers searching solutions themself. Also it is a bit too pricy, but we could not find other product that we like better.

I thought the concept was great, that's why I bought it. The end product sucked. The cross poles that formed the domes bent after using one time, NOT due to wind. The poles were not flexible enough. Too big of a diameter, and not enough sections. Held on with suction cups, I knew that wasn't going to work. So I ordered 400lb magnets at the same time. Due to the awnings large area, whick i wanted, they didn't hold in a <10mph breeze. Lotta sail area. Yes, it was pricey at $700 But, if it would have worked, I'd have been OK with it. Due yourself a favor, look at the Kelty Highroads awning, they've been making tents for a long time. Not as big, but big enough, WITH sides! Flexible poles won't kink. No suction cups, total BS, or magnets. Rather straps long enough to go over a high top van and be staked down. And at only $170 you save a whole lotta money!!
