It came totally compressed but expanded & usable by bedtime. He says he likes the way he can cuddle up with it and slept for over 10 hours the first night he used it. I'm not pregnant but I'm plagued by lower back issues. This pillow is a sleep game-changer. It came packed tightly in a small box, and once I opened it, it expanded quickly and fully. It did not have an odor at all. The cover is very soft. I think it's well designed but I do wish it were slightly longer because I'm a tall person and it doesn't quite go between my knees when I roll over, but this is a small issue and I did not count off for it. It's not the maker's fault that I'm tall. :) The only thing I wish is that I'd gotten a different cover. The velvety cover is a bit hot, and I hate being hot. This was my fault though.
