This thing is ugly. It looks like you're taking your saw on a camping trip... Now, that can be forgiven if it works well, which it does... but... it also takes up a LOT of room behind your saw. If you're working in a cramped garage to begin with, you will be losing even more room by using this. You can custom-make something that will work just as well as this, but actually fits in with your shop and looks like it belongs there. The LEDs don't really add that much light in the grand scheme of things. Did I mention this thing is ugly? If I had this set up to my miter saw, I'd be unable to let anyone else see it out of shame. But, it does work! But it's also very miserable-looking... In the end, I wound up using a custom-fitted third-party dust collection attachment for my 12" Bosch, and it works just as well as this does, and doesn't add anything to the already enormous footprint of my saw. And the best part was that the attachment was far more affordable. I can not see a scenario where this hood is more useful, looks better than, or is more economical than a third-party dust adapter for your saw. Sorry. ... show more

I installed this on my DeWalt DWS780 which is mounted to a Bosch T4B Gravity Rise stand. This may be the most popular saw and best stand on the market, but they didn't really provide proper hardware for mounting it, and the instructions are lacking. For now, I used the bolts that hold the back of the saw to the Bosch stand to attach the hood brackets. There is no other place to attach them on this setup. The included bolts will not work with this stand. It works but I'd like to get the hood further forward, which I can't, because of the curve of the DeWalt casting and the square bending of the hood brackets. I attached a bunch of photos so you can see. Another deficit is the lack of hose adapters. I jerry-rigged it with some random parts I had laying around, to connect to my Fein shopvac. I do have 4" dust collection in my shop, but this unit is portable so I need the flexibility to use a shopvac. Include a simple adapter, please. A 4" hose clamp is all they included. It did contain most sawdust. Only very fine stuff worked its way out the front and that is because I can't quite get it into the right position with the included hardware. The light is a bit hokey, and not necessary. I may remove it. The elastic they attached it with will fail over time, especially in sunlight, so it's not a great solution. For my setup, I decided that one solution would be to attach L bracket to the outside of each Bosch mount (inverted). Then I can drill holes in that and attach the brackets to that. There are plastic parts inside the Bosch mounts (not visible) that interfere with drilling through the tops. Drilling through the lower half of the sides of those rails should be okay for attaching the L brackets. But really, they need to provide some additional brackets to provide flexibility, and instructions with ideas for all different stand models, or at least the most popular ones. Hard to believe they didn't test this on the Bosch system prior to shipping. ... show more

I have a sliding compound Miter saw that I have built risers for on either side of the saw for balancing long pieces of wood. The risers are built out of plywood and extend the length of the table. So when I tried to attach this hood to the back of my miter saw, there were no attachment points that resembled the instructions. So then I attempted to screw it into the risers but it kept flopping around. I tried spreading out the base to create more stability but I still couldn't get it upright like the pics. I even looked at other reviews and examined those pictures to try to get it to work. Then came the realization that because we have this set up against the wall, we'd need to pull the saw out way too far to accommodate it, thus blocking the door it's next to. If our saw was in the middle of the room and maybe on a metal stand, it would've worked better. Just don't believe the statement that it fits all saws and all scenarios. It's a shame bc I HATE all the sawdust that gets spilled behind the table, even using the bag on the out feed. And I was looking forward to having the light to illuminate the piece I'm cutting, but it's just not a fit for our setup and our saw. Bummer... The light was super bright though! And everything seemed really well made. ... show more

    • Easy setup, no more dust
I have a HF Hercules miter saw and the built-in dust collector leaves a lot to be desired. This hood installs easily and connects to my Shop Fox dust collector. A little saw dust escapes but it is barely noticable.
