My cat has been obsessed with this since the day I bought his 1st one Feb 2022. 9 months later I had to buy a new one because it basically died. I think the motor was going out. It's super expensive for a toy that doesn't even last 1 year, but my cat literally played with it daily, so it ended up being worth it. The only other thing that would make it better is if it came with a remote control. 1 thing you have to check if it starts missing up, is the rollers. They get hair stuck in them. My cat was instantlu interested when I turned it on. It's been a pain figuring out what toys he likes but I noticed he liked to play with wires and bread twists, so give this a try if your kitty is the same. But like the other reviews said, it runs on battery and there's no auto shut off feature (at least not on mines),so it definitely runs out quickly. It would be great if another upgrade was put in place it make this charged. ... show more

Yes it is kinda cheap. but like that’s fine because it works i just can’t see it lasting more then a few months before i need to replace it. my cat loves it tho so when he breaks it i will buy another one. fair warning it’s not quiet and it’s actually pretty annoying over long periods but once you get past that at least your carts having a good time ... show more

Got this for my cat and he sometimes shows interest, although it did take him a while to warm up to it. Mine does not have a remote or motion detection (mentioned in the review screen,) so I can't speak to anything like that. My unit is pretty basic. It's plastic with a stretchy fabric that the string is connected to and it has two options to run standard or quickly. The fabric just rolls and the string is pulled by that. It works perfectly fine and when my cat is interested, he really enjoys pulling on the string to stop the fabric from rolling. The only real downside I have seen is that it uses my batteries pretty quickly. I gotta be on the ball to stop it when the cat isn't interacting with it in order to conserve battery life. Otherwise I mean it works well enough and I haven't run into any issues with it other than what I mentioned. ... show more

For the obsessed kitty, this is the best cat toy ever. This cat is very busy, loves toys, and is easily bored. The string toy never gets old. Even if he gets bored (after sometimes 30 minutes or more) and walks away, he goes right back the next time he spots it. He goes hard on it, and gets the string stuck every once in a while, but I can pull it out again and everything is fine. It seems to go for a really long time on one set of batteries too.
