Backstory: I started welding in 2006 when I took a class at my local community college. We had to go out and buy the basics including a basic helmet. They told us that auto darkening helmets just came out and they were $350 plus so we all ended up buying the same basic helmet. I own a concrete construction company that’s been in business since 1963 and I do the welding repair and fabrication on things that don’t need full on professional work. Sitting in the duck blind one day I brought up welding to a guy who’s son is an iron worker and he mentioned how cheap helmets were now. I instantly logged on to Amazon and ordered this with the help of some reviews. I have now fabricated a truck rack and a few other items since and absolutely love this piece! The adjustability is great since we just recently added all led lights to our shop. For the price, comfort, and adjustability of the bands and the lens I would recommend this to anyone! It's decent for the money and it will do in a pinch or a small budget but I'm honestly not impressed and I really wished I would have spent a few extra bucks and got a better quality helmet. The whole reason I bought it was for all the features and the low price point. I didn't wanna spend $200+ on a really nice welding helmet but I probably should have. I'll go over the pros and cons. Pros: -Has a nice sleek look -Harness is fairly comfortable and it's light weight -Shade control knob is external making it easy to adjust on the go. -Large viewing window -Budget friendly and fairly feature packed. Cons: -Takes a non standard coin cell battery instead of the normal AAA although they do supply a spare. -Helmet feels small or narrow when you have it on. - Window seems slightly too close to the face when down which creates sort of a tunnel vision affect which kinda makes the large view useless. - Last negative which is the biggest con for me is I'm not sure what they mean by this new clear screen technology they speak of but this lense is more tinted and harder to see through than my cheap miller helmet whether welding or just looking through it normal. If you don't want to burn your eyes out when welding you pretty much have to have the shade cranked up to max, and then it's so dark you can't even see where you're welding and if you lighten the shade in order to see the weld line clearly the shade is not dark enough to protect your eyes making this helmet rather useless. All in all it's not bad if you're on a budget and just need a decent welding helmet but if I had it to do over again I would just spend the extra cash and get a quality helmet, you'll thank me later. ... show more
