Purchased Monster cable back in the 70's for my vintage Marantz reciever. I decided to upgrade some thinner wire with Monster cable. Love how thick of gauge 14 awg is compared to the thin wire I was using for the 2nd pair of speakers. My Monster cable from the 70's was 100% all copper compared to my purchase the other day. Nice wire, 12ga was a little to much for the posts on my speakers. Thinkin' 14ga is the standard these days. There's a lot of HOOPLA about speaker wire and a premium version of this, but I think you'll be fine with this wire.

I'm not a guy deep into the snake oil claims of cables/wires being superior to one another or sounding profoundly better or worse than another, but I love Monster Cable 12 gauge speaker wire as opposed to the cheap 16-18 gauge wire. I think that given the thickness of the wire maybe it does a better job of carrying higher current from amplifier to speakers. Wwith that being said it sounds excellent if you own a decent system that can reproduce good sound. It's all you're ever going to need and 100 feet for $40 is an insanely great price. ... show more
