I have two sets of speaker wires. Both have 12AWG written on them. One set has twice as much metal conductor as the other. Both specifications are correct. Why? One brand has a 12AWG wire for the positive connector and another 12AWG wire for the negative conductor. This brand has 12AWG for the positive and negative conductors COMBINED! That said, the price is excellent and will do a perfect job for average speaker wire runs. It is inexpensive enough, one can double it for longer runs, as I did. I am pleased with the product quality.

Yes, you can spend more money. Lots more. But if you enjoy music through mid range equipment and speakers like my setup, you are not going to notice the difference. 12 aw will let a lot of volume through. Certainly, even at full 100w, I hear no distortion or loss of bass due to wire impedance. If you have $5k speakers and $10k amps powering a $30k turntable, you aren’t reading this review.

I'm very pleased with the material this wire and outer PVC jacket are made from. It has a nice feeling outer casing that is easily bendable and pliant, and allows the wire to hold its shape. It is the soft kind of plastic that isn't overly affected by the elements, cold or hot. It will firm up a bit in the cold and loosen in heat, but stays mostly the same. The wire itself appears as described in the product description: "12 AWG Copper Clad Aluminum (CCA) conductors, High strand count 65 strands *0.254mm, OD 4.0*8.0mm, Flexible and insulated PVC jacket". This is really good wire. I'd definitely buy more.
