Working great for setting up live scope

I bought this to mount to a wood block so that i can hold it in a blacksmith style post leg vice. The overall construction actually feels pretty good, but where it lacks is the screw knobs. None of the vice-points grip tightly enough, no matter how hard you crank down. It does a good enough job to be useful, but the bike will always be able to move/pivot etc while its in the stand. Considering I dont need a bike stand more than couple times a year, the trade offs are more than offset by the $35 price tag for me.

Ok, so, this particulier model is to be hardwired into a base. Given I have no intentions of doing that, I'm making my own using a sturdy thick piece of wood that'll fit the base well , be wide enough to keep a bike stable. I'll add quick release locking nuts to the bolts for quick on/off/storage. I'm adding 4 locking wheels so that I can roll it wherever I'll be working. Wink!

Just installed this and put my mountain bike on it (35lbs). This bench mount bike repair stand seems fairly heavy duty upon first glance, the bars/bench mount is metal, but all the joints are plastic. Even on the very edge of the bench the mount must be fully extended for bike peddles to have clearance and doing so is putting a LOT of strain on this clamp (as you can probably see in the pics). It hasn’t yet, but it feels like the plastic could snap at any time. Pros - Its a cheap clamp. Cons - It’s a cheap clamp. I doubt I’ll be using it much, so maybe it’ll be ok. And honestly, for this price, it’s about what I expected. Make sure you have a very sturdy work bench to mount it to. Not sure if wall mounting it would be better or not.

I got this stand because my portable Park stand is big and takes up a lot of floor space. I was always tripping over the legs in my cramped shop. I mounted it to my work bench. It is perfect for a quick tune up. The stand can be setup many ways. The clamp holds the bike securely. My only real issue is the plastic clamps for the pipes. They are sturdy enough but the pipes tend to slide inside the clamps. This makes the bike less stable when you are working on it. Good news was , I cured this by applying carbon fiber assembly paste to the inside of the pipe clamps. For the price I paid, I am pleased with it. I still plan to use the Park stand. I do volunteer repair work at charity rides from time to time.
