Used this for mounting a homemade pole to mount Live Scan Fish Sonar on. Saw someone else had done this with positive results. This worked well and held things very secure. Multiple knobs allow multiple axis of movement including height, outward extension, and lateral swivel. The Clamp worked well... I like the tension knob for tensioning vs a flip-up/press down tension system as I don't have to worry about it accidentally coming undone and losing my $$$$ equipment. Shaft was sturdy and resisted lateral torque. Only thing I did was to buy some Carbon Fiber Gel which creates more friction between tube joints helping to prevent (but not eliminate) slippage. Overall great, A turn of a couple knobs and I can swing my pole system into or out of boat. For $40 it recreated a mechanical system that would otherwise cost $300+.

Basically 5 stars for the price. Here's the problem I had, which is not a product shortcoming, really. There is a "wrong" orientation for the install and this is not very well documented, and this is the way I want and installed mine. I have a table I wanted to install this to, but I didn't want it to screw into the top. I wanted to keep top surface area clear for work, and I can't easily screw down into the top because of the structure of my work surface (the screws would extend down into drawers). So I installed side-mounted onto a 6x6 base leg. Then, because this mount point is fairly low, I attached the grab bar oriented *up* - if it is straight out or hanging down, it won't keep my bike off the ground, so I thought I would point the grab bar vertical and clamp the bike top tube in there and use that as my work setup. This doesn't work, though. That vertical bar slides a little in the horizontal extension base. If you install it this way, it /kind of/ works, but if the balance is disrupted, the vertical clamp post will rotate and the bike tires hit the ground. I haven't figured out an alternate installation orientation with my work bench, so I'm struggling with that balancing issue, but otherwise its a handy, cheap solution for this need.

I bought this to mount to a wood block so that i can hold it in a blacksmith style post leg vice. The overall construction actually feels pretty good, but where it lacks is the screw knobs. None of the vice-points grip tightly enough, no matter how hard you crank down. It does a good enough job to be useful, but the bike will always be able to move/pivot etc while its in the stand. Considering I dont need a bike stand more than couple times a year, the trade offs are more than offset by the $35 price tag for me.

I used this to build a forward facing sonar mount for my fishing boat. Im sure that it would work well for bike storage too, but i cant attest to that. The stand is made with good materials and has really nice knobs and hardware for tightening the various features available. If you are wanting to build a sonar mount like seen on youtube videos this does the job really well and is very sturdy.
