It very successfully carries the audio signal from the unit to the speaker. Regarding the gauge, nobody will accuse you of not having heavy enough wire for the job, any job. Good wire!!!

Quality wire with good value. Insulation is easy to strip and work with (pliable) without feeling thin and cheap. Gauge seems legit on a 14 AWG stripping tool, although I haven’t tried to measure that scientifically. I’ve used this at home and at work for indoor installations and would purchase again. Basic conductor made from copper coated aluminum. It is flexible and suitable for speaker wire. I own a great deal of Monster Cable, but that is in a storage unit on the other side of the country. As far as I know, the old Monster Cable was 100% OFC (Oxygen Free Copper), but that is no longer true. Most people wouldn't know the difference between expensive speaker wire and an old extension cord of the same gauge. My military service ruined my hearing. I miss the subtle nuances in music that I can no longer hear. A 100 foot spool arrived today. The picture shows damage in two areas, the small piece near the bottom and the larger section folded over on the right side. The wire is good, but it does explain why many of my deliveries arrive the way they do. Poor packing and rough handling teams up to money that is passed on to the customer. ... show more

I bought this to use with my new Herdio 6.5 Inches Indoor Outdoor Bluetooth Speakers. They recommended 16AWG but I got this 14AWG and the sound is great. The price was about as good as it could get at the time for 30 feet of white outdoor wiring. Couldn't ask for much more!
