Features

  • COMPATIBILITY Fits 1997-2004 Dodge Dakota
  • REDUCES SAG UNDER LOAD -- Ideal for occasionally hauling or towing varying loads; heavy gauge, calibrated coil spring reduces sag when loaded up to 1,200 lbs. (capacity limited by suspension, tires and transmission; see owner's manual)
  • EXCEPTIONAL HANDLING -- Tuned specifically for each application, full-displaced valving automatically adjusts to road extremes to provide ride consistency
  • CONSISTENT RIDE -- OE all-weather fluid contains special modifiers to handle extreme temperatures and PTFE-banded piston helps reduce friction between the piston and pressure tube to enhance responsiveness to changing road surfaces
  • LONGER SERVICE LIFE -- Self-lubricating fluid seal retains gas and reduces excessive friction against the piston rod to help reduce premature wear while heavy-duty nitrocarburized rod delivers long life
  • IMPROVES PERFORMANCE -- Nitrogen gas-charge maintains tire-to-road contact for improved ride and handling by reducing aeration and shock fade

Description

Ideal for light trucks that that tow or carry varying loads, Monroe load adjusting shocks include a heavy gauge calibrated spring that adjusts to road and weight conditions to provide extra control when operating conditions get more demanding.

  • Great Shock and Monroe Quality
The shocks are typical Monroe designed and build with quality and performance in mind. Each shock is massive but fit nicely installed them on 1999 Dodge Dakota SLT 4x4. The shock I removed were original so the top bolts were very rusted however came off easily using a Plasma Cutter. The stock suspension wasn't long enough when fully extended so I had to compress the shock about 1" in order to align the lower bolt holes Under the weight of the truck, these shocks bumped up the back about 1 1/2 inches which was expected. The ride is a bit firmer but that expected with this type of shock. ... show more

  • Love these shocks
Really like these shocks. On my second set. Needed about an inch of lift in the back of the rig and didn't want to use spacers, so these worked perfectly. Only gave them a rating of 3 for ease of installation because without something to compress them, you have to support the vehicle by the fame, droop the suspension (I had to take the wheels off too), and possibly use a prybar to align the lower bolts. To be expected with this kind of shock, but the average buyer might not realize that. ... show more

  • Good
The shocks I will I like them I picked them up because it was on a good deal and on top of that it was for my father's pickup truck my dad is the kind of guy that kind of picks up words stuff and well he needs a picture I'll pick up truck that looks like a pickup truck and not like a chunky truck so I bought these for him and now this man he can pile it up for as high as he wants him the truck doesn't sag ... show more

  • Great shocks for towing
My OEM shocks were shot and I am now bumper towing a camper. So I choose these and so far I love the ride. They are no more rough riding than a standard set of shocks and work great when the camper is hooked up. One problem during installation they are shipped fully expanded and need to be compressed to fit. I used another small jack to accomplish this. Hey Monroe what's wrong with with strapping these compressed to ease installation. ... show more

  • Good Product at a Good Price
Put on my 03' Dakota 4x4. Primarily for towing. Lifted about 1-1/2". Really helped on heavier loads. No sag, or dipping, with average loads (2-3K). As to be expected, it does stiffen up the overall ride. My set up required me to move the passenger side brake line, as it was too close to the spring. Have not been off-road with these. Again, was purchased to tow. Seems to be a good fit for my purpose. Decent shock that does what it was designed to do. Would purchase again. ... show more

  • Good value and improved performance
Much better than original shocks without springs. Because of springs, you can’t compress shocks to fit before installing. Must extend suspension fully and still need to manipulate shocks into place. Not difficult but care must be taken

  • Good shocks
I am happy with these Monroe‘s. They do raise up the backside of the truck 1 to 2 inches. Don’t think they’re going to replace worn out springs. They help but if your leaf springs are worn you need leaf springs so I’ve come to find out

  • Right Fit For My 2001 Dodge Dakota 4WD
At first I thought they were the wrong size because they were 6" longer than my old ones when I measured them still on the truck. I realized I need to jack the truck up from the frame and let the axle hand down. Thus making the shock fit. I did have to jack the end of the shock up so I could insert the bolt. Otherwise a good fit, looks good and the heavy duty spring holds the truck level with the added weight in the back. ... show more
