I was really impressed by this desk. It supports quite a bit of weight, has just enough room for my work, and is sturdy, all for a pretty low price. I'm 6'0" and the desk can go high enough that it's uncomfortable for me or low enough that I can't fit a chair underneath, so the range is very impressive. After a year, it's still rising and lowering smoothly, though I probably only adjust it twice a week. I've mounted a double monitor arm on it, and it handles that load just fine. I like having more open desk space so I can do my laptop under the monitors with the screen open, but it still had room for a mouse and keyboard when the monitors were on stands. The pre-drilled hole in the middle is a nice touch. I ended up buying a cable management system that mounted on the bottom of the desktop--the cords from my electronics hanging down at multiple lengths bothered me. The hole let me tuck them all nearly underneath and run a single cord to the outlet. The hardest one to hide is actually the cord that connects the control panel, which hange visibly under the right side. Overall we were very impressed with the desk. The motor operates quietly and smoothly and the ability to pre-set different heights is a plus! Our one criticism is re: the assembly. There were plastic inserts in the pre-drilled holes in which to insert the posts which join the end pieces to the main desk. These inserts have a hole with which the post fits through to connect the desk pieces. Some of these plastic inserts were inserted (and apparently glued in so no way to rotate them) with the hole in the incorrect placement. Result was we had to drill new holes and then assemble the desk. Once assembled it looks great and is quite sturdy (I have 2 large monitors and it supports them nicely.) ... show more

Desk comes in a square box, which made me wonder how the desktop was going to be. Upon opening I was not looking forward to assembly. All items were securely packed and protected. Assembly was fairly easy although it was clear this was optimized for shipping cost and not for what could be easily assembled at the factory. Tools provided are sufficient. Even spare screws identified in a separate bag. I did make one change to a step by attaching one leg to the desktop before attaching the center bar and other leg. That way I didn’t have to wrestle with both legs at the same time. Instructions are very good and real pictures included for clarification. So although I wasn’t looking forward to assembly it was fine so no points deducted from five. The desktop is in three pieces. Be sure to line up the patterns first because taking it apart again might be a bit of a pain. Pieces assemble so the top is secure and stable. The placement of the seams is far enough apart so they aren’t irritating. (My previous stationary desk had seams too close together and they we irritating for writing and placing my arm on desk.) However the little rounded indent looks nice but makes it uncomfortable to rest my arm on the desk when I’m using my track pad. (I sit at an angle.) Only a couple hours in and my arm feels chaffed and I have indents in it from the sharpness of the edge. The front edge is not very rounded so the sharpness of it adds to the irritation. One star off for that. I plan to turn the desk around so the front side is flat. I will have to switch the position of the controls and deal with the hole for cords but I don’t think my arm will be irritated. For this lack-of-comfort reason I would not buy this desk again if I had a do-over. If switching the orientation doesn’t work (because the edge sharpness won’t change) I will return this. What a pain after I’ve put the whole thing together! The desktop height is good and without the wheels is even with a large desk in my office. I did not install the wheels. The motion for raising the desk is smooth and relatively quiet. I like that part. The desktop surface is a good size. I use a dual monitor setup so there is room for that but that setup also puts me at an angle rather than the straight-on single laptop use this desk seems designed for. The desktop is pressboard but it has a nice appearance. The table itself is solid and doesn’t wobble. Once I get the desk turned around I will tackle the cable mess I have behind the desk. The little hole in the desk in insufficient for all the cables I plug into my computer so I would have rather not had that hole (assuming I left the desk in the intended position where that hole would be at the back). In fact the plastic insert sits up quite a bit and is positioned in the center where I put my laptop so I don’t like that. That’s probably not a whole star off but it’s sort of making me grouchy describing what I don’t like so off goes a star. There are clips for cables under the desk but that really is only for the cable that runs from the front control to the back to plug into the outlet. I don’t have any cables running on the desktop to the front of the desk so don’t see myself using those cable clips for anything else. Aesthetically this desk is nice.
