  • The Stability I Needed for My Kayak
Style: Float Stabilizer
The media could not be loaded. These inflatable pontoons provide very good stability. I can turn around to get gear and even stand up…things that weren’t easy or even possible before. I can inflate them in 3-5 breaths and they stay inflated all day. The double valve stem makes it efficient to inflate because you don’t lose air between breaths. One challenge is rowing; they can get in the way depending on where you mount them. I have to lean forward a little to clear them for full strokes. Otherwise, my stroke is a little short. Another is if you want to sit on top of a sunken tree with exposed branches. They can get caught on the branches (which can also be helpful to keep you moored without an anchor). They’re thick enough to not be worried about punctures from most branches. Mine came with four patches (about 4 inch circles) but no glue. They also make getting in and out of the kayak awkward depending on where you are. But they’re easy to take off on one side as you get close to shore. They can move around a bit while maneuvering (when I hit them with my paddle) but they stay in position enough and keep the kayak stable. For what they do and how they perform, I give them 4.5 stars. I would like them better if they were a little smaller and didn’t interfere with rowing as much. But those are more limitations with my kayak than the stabilizers. I’m also considering these for a pedal driven kayak for added peace-of-mind, which I definitely have with these stabilizers. Great value for the price!. • Worth every penny.
Style: Float Stabilizer
The media could not be loaded. I was really hesitant to buy these, but I'm crafty and figured I'd give them a chance. They are great quality, much to my surprise. I put them on the front of my Lifteime Teton Angler 100 which is not a stable kayak in the slightest. I couldn't tip this boat even when trying to after adding the outriggers. I mounted them far enough up with the well nuts that came with the clamps, so I don't hit them with my paddle. They don't get in the way of landing fish which was an initial concern of mine. I also got the bars and the mounting clamps, both work flawlessly. I highly recommend these. I also recommend picking up a bottle of aquaseal to patch any holes, because they will get holes (all inflatable products eventually do) and it's best to be prepared when it happens. Love that they come off when I'm not on the water. Also they store in a closet pretty well. Happy with the purchase and the upgrade. ... show more

  • great value
Style: Float Stabilizer
I was concerned when I read some of the reviews, but ordered it knowing I could return if necessary. It comes with minimal packaging and no instructions. I immediately inflated both floats to a very taunt fill and happily found no leaks. Very thick PVC makes the floats feel very firm and sturdy. Came with 4 large circular patches for punctures, but no instructions on how to use them. ( I'm sure it can be found on YouTube ). I'm happy with my purchase, especially for the price. ... show more

  • Durable & effective, great value
Style: Float Stabilizer
The trick is to use a painted wooden dowling and then use undiluted dish soap on the ends of the dowel to get loops through while stabilizers are deflated. This makes for a perfect fit so you don’t even have to close the end. I used PVC anyway, and they work perfectly. Do you want to inflate them to capacity and the white keeps them cool in the water so they don’t get too soft since they’re made out of PVC. I treat mine carefully but they seem really durable and they keep air good! ... show more

  • Training wheels for the vertically challenged kayaker
Style: Stabilizer Rods
We bought kayaks having never been in one..... not the brightest decision. Found out neither I or my husband are as young as we once were and we COULDN'T STAY UPRIGHT! Thank goodness we found these, I call this and the floats my "training wheels", like when you are a kid and learning to ride a bike. I may never take them off, I can stay upright without having to work at it. One suggestion. Place them as far back on the kayak as possible or they get in the way of paddling..... we had to move ours back further. A bit pricey, but I'm kayaking upright!! ... show more
