Working on my third bowl. The instructions are okay but you have to read between the lines. Also, the layout of the chapters is a bit incongruous. The project is nice a alot better than some of the videos you see that give you quicker but not as nicely finished project. With patience and all the right materials, one can finish a bowl in a day. ... show more

I am excited to start making bowls. Just need to find very interesting cotton fabric.

    • Not actually useable
The directions are scattered throughout the book in various chapters. They assume a lot, too. My mother, who has been sewing and quilting for 50 years, could not even begin to follow this book to make a bowl. The author skips the first several logical steps. Frustrating.

    • Wasn't what I hoped for
The description of the book seemed unclear. This one turned out to be not what I was looking for. I wanted a book on fabric/rope bowls and this isn't it.

    • This teaches the hard way.
Well this is the hard way to do it there is a much easier way. There’s a fusible interfacing that fuse or sample sides then all you have to do is cut the darts and sew it up.

    • Directions are all over the place
It is a lovely book but when you are ready to start a bowl, the instructions say do… found on page… which means lots of going back and forth. I’ve read through 5 times and still haven’t made a bowl.
