  • nice but challenging kit
This kit has fairly good quality castings. There are rough spots and flashing that need to be worked on. I suggest a modeling knife, a small file small needle nose plier, small wirer cutter and a large needle. I used a gel type super glue for most of the assembly, and fast setting epoxy in a few places. I'm almost 70 so I'm not as steady as I use to be and a magnifying glass helps a bit, but the parts aren't as small as the full interior tank model I finished and the super glue sets up in seconds. The instructions aren't the best, but are good enough if you look at the diagrams as you go. For me, the hardest part was carving out the propeller from the basic shape they give you. I'm not good at wood carving. Some work with a Dremel tool and sanding drum got me close enough to sand it to shape by hand. It makes a very good looking model. There are plenty of pictures and even videos of the engine running on the internet if you want to make it look historically accurate. I would not recommend this for beginners. Parts need to be checked and fit before assembly, and, sure glue can be bad stuff if you get sloppy with it. By the way, it is a rotary engine due to the fact that the cylinders and crankcase rotate with the prop. An engine of this type with stationary cylinders is a radial engine. The Mazda engine is actually a rotor engine, not a rotary engine. ... show more

  • NOT for beginners and poor castings
An interesting subject for a kit but the quality of the metal parts are poorer than expected for this company. There were holes in some of the larger parts and the small parts lacked good detail and needed a lot of filing and sanding. This kit is NOT for beginners or kids due to all the small parts.

  • Roughly cast parts
Next step down is they send you 1) a tree to cut down for the prop and 2) a smelter to make your own parts. You have to work the parts a lot

  • Junk
Glue together cut out junk. Thought you’d be able to actually “put it together”
