Mitutoyo has always made quality precision measuring tools, this one is no exception. I thought about getting a Starrett, but the cost was just too much for my needs.

    • Excellent quality metric caliper
I've had numerous calipers over the years ranging from cheap stamped metal to digital to traditional quality analog. I love this Mitutoyo because it is very fine quality, easy to read and analog (doesn't need batteries). Also, I work in metric when I can (sometimes it's not practical, ugh), so I really like that this is a metric caliper. This was a purchase for my home shop, but I also have a larger custom furniture shop, and I'm getting a set of these for that shop, too. Finally, these are truly value for the money. There are more expensive ones out there, and definitely less expensive ones. But these hit the sweet spot for being excellent professional quality, at a reasonable cost.     • Absolutely Worth the Cost
I had purchased a much cheaper brand on Amazon before thinking I don’t need the accuracy of a Mitutoyo, but it failed in less than 6 months. The Mitutoyo is more accurate and has a very solid feel to it, I trust that my measurements are correct all the time with it. I don’t like digital models because of the batteries, I batteries leak and destroy the device, especially when you don’t use the thing often. ... show more

    • Accurate, and a joy to use
Calipers are about as good as one could expect. I'd also like to mention you are supposed to wipe off the protective oil coating the inside of the jaws, this is the reason your dial isnt going all the way back to 0.00mm. If you squeeze the jaws closed (not too forcefully) if it temporarily goes down to 0, that is likely to the layer of oil. If not, you need to use the screw on the bottom of the dial to rezero it. ... show more
