Replaced a Motorad thermostat that only lasted 3 years and 20k miles. Jeep started running hot during long highway uphill sections on 85 deg day. Needle went up to over 5/8 and oil temp over 245 deg. Had to turn off the AC and turn up the heater to dump the extra heat. To fix the problem, I purchased this 194 F Mishimoto thermostat. Wanted my engine to run slightly cooler without throwing a code. Before installing, I tested the thermostat in a pot of water on the stove and a red dot temp gun. Thermostat started opening exactly at 195 deg F. Perfect. After install, my Jeep GC temp needle now stays below 1/2 (usually at about 3/8) and oil temp stays below 230 which I find very acceptable. We'll see how long it lasts but so far I'm happy with this thermostat. ... show more

I bought this Mishimoto thermostat in hopes that it would perform better and last longer than the Mopar ones which only last a couple years or the parts store stuff which lasts a couple months. Malfunctioned from the start, doesn’t open until around 203 deg, and sticks not fully opening. Investigation found that the thermostat does not fit square in the housing, and drags badly on the side of the retainer. See photo. I contacted them for warranty, and they sent me another which has exactly the same problem. Installed Mopar thermostat which works correctly. ... show more

    • Game changer for Wrangler that always tan hot
Had my mechanic swap this in for the standard that had been replaced 4 times. The fluid had been done three times and we had even swappped out the radiator and water pump. This product may have saved me from all of that as it opens at a lower temp which seems to have been a flaw in the manufacturing of our 2016 wrangler unlimited. She has always been a pavement princess nut in Florida she got hot even popping a code in the past causing my wife to pull over shut her down and drive with no AC when trying to avoid the issue. This thermostat changed it all mo more looking at the temp no more driving with heat on in summer or without AC.
