My daughter has been begging me to teach her how to sew for a while now. She's mastered the needle and thread, but I've been less than keen on getting her on my (expensive) machine. When I saw this, I figured it would be a great 'next step'. What I didn't expect is that it would be such great machine- that I actually use myself! ☆This comes well packaged. The machine is protected from damage and it is ready to be given as a gift. I really appreciate all the extras that come with this, including fabric and a pattern, making it 100% ready to use right away. ☆While this is Miraculous Ladybug themed (there is a ML sticker on the machine and the included project and materials are ML theamed too) this is NOT one of those cheep, kid's branded products that don't work or fail after a few minutes. This machine works...and it works really well! ☆The quality is very impressive! The machine has a decent weight to it, which keeps it steady and studry, even when using the high speed, but is still light enough for kids to move. The pieces on the machine aren't cheep plastic, rather they are metal. The foot pedal is also made well and very studry. The buttons and dials move smooth, function properly and without issue. I just can't get over how well this is made and how great it works! ☆No need to worry about your kid sewing over their fingers or getting pinched under the presserfoot as they are encased by a clear, protective box. ☆While everything has a learning curve, this machine makes sewing pretty easy. It is also very easy to set up and use. I didn't need the instructions, but took a look at them anyway. They are well written and easy to read. ☆While we have only used this plugged in, I think it's nice it can also operate on batteries. I'll admit- for quick and easy jobs, I have turned to this machine instead of firing up mine! It works that good! While this won't embroider, cut and surge or make button holes, it does do a fantastic job at simple projects. This is an EXCELLENT machine for beginners as they will learn everything from threading, making/using bobbins, correcting tension and the foot pedal. Plus, there is nothing better than seeing them applying themselves, being creative and showing off what they have made. I can't recommend this set enough! I got this sewing machine for a total beginner. The machine is great for its price. In the box it comes with everything you need to get started. The machine feels durable and well built. It came pre-threaded, which saved loads of time. The bottom of the machine has anti slip treads, which prevent it from moving while in action. The needle has a protective case around it, which is good safety to prevent children from hurting themselves. It comes with a couple of instruction manuals in different languages, stickers to personalize the machine with, and material to practice on and make something with. The instructions are very basic and abrupt. It shows what each part is and is clear enough, but for a novice like myself, everything is over my head. I need even more detailed instructions. I used the machine to fix my pants pockets which were ripped, and it stitched it up 1-2-3. In the process of using, the thread ripped, and I had to figure out how to rethread the needle. The instructions were clear with pictures of how and where to put the thread. But it doesn't tell or show how to remove the guard case from the needle first, which I had to figure out. The sewing machine has option of running by either using a cord or batteries, which makes it very useful to take traveling on long trips and vacations. It also has a choice of either running using a power button or with the included foot peddle. Both of which works great. From my perspective as a certified novice, the machine works great, it stitched up the ripped area of my clothes very professionally. My question though is can I stitch back together the split seem of pants, and can you sew a button back on with this mini machine, or is that not possible. The instructions don't clarify its capabilities and limitations. Except for those questions, it performs great, and I hope it lasts for a very long time. I clearly need to take a few lessons before I can make full use of the machine. ... show more

    • Works but definitely for kids
I think this is great for kids. My wife got it for herself and it’s just way too small to use for more than the smallest and quickest of sewing tasks. Seems to be good quality and includes a bunch of accessories that all work and are practical. Just keep in mind that this is more akin to a toy or a child’s sewing machine and is not intended for adult use or heavy use. ... show more

My granddaughter is absolutely a designer in the making and has been wanting to learn to machine sew. From the packing and all the items included it was ready to go. Which by the way made it a lot easier for an excited granddaughter. I appreciate the protection measure they took with this machine. It is really assume that it can run with a cord or batteries making it very versatile as well as making it with the option for a foot peddle or power button.     • Too clunky for a child.
I would not recommend this sewing machine as a gift for a child. It’s noisy and the thread catches. In addition the plug in cord doesn’t work.

    • Compact but powerful
I own a full sized sewing machine but purchased this one for it's smaller size. I needed something portable to sew on paper for my mixed media projects. After a bit of a learning curve, this little machine works great for my needs. I can see where it would be a good machine for learning, especially for younger kids since it has a needle guard. I haven't tried it on fabric since that's not the purpose I bought it, but it works perfectly on paper and helps me avoid dragging out the full sized machine to add just a bit of sewing to a project. ... show more
