A little bit goes a long way. This stuff is kinda fun to use. You can see in the pics and the video how it works. Holds moisture well for your plants. Have been using for a few months and it hasn't changed the color of my soil or the depth, you can't see it if you do it right(not putting it on the top of the soil but a couple inches in the dirt) haven't seen any mold. Have mushrooms in 1 pot but I literally have this in 50 pots and in my garden bed so no fault of this product 😆 😅 have purchased several times and will definitely purchase again when my supply runs low. I buy 2 at a time. Great bang for your buck and helps save on watering. With 90-100° days I can water every other day so a time saver too🧚♀️💃🧚 ... show more

I have 4 pots of flowers that fit on my deck rails. I use these crystals to help with watering. You need to make sure, however, that when you do plant and use these crystals, that you don’t put the crystals near the top of the pot because they will just blow up and sit on top of the soil. So make sure you put these crystals towards the bottom of your pot. They blow up and water your plants naturally. Your soil won’t dry out as quickly and you won’t have to water as often. ... show more

I did not use this for "as instructed" use. This product is an excellent product in the insects world. There are no pesticides hiding in this product, which is wonderful! So many companies for plant products hide insecticides in their products and keep buyers unaware. This product is free of harmful ingredients. I put these crystals, very few needed, in small shallow containers to water my Dubia Roaches, and my Crickets. I have home pets who eat both. The availability for these insects during the past 10 months has been limited in my area, so I took up raising them in bins. I tried natural sponges as a source of water, but the crickets would eat the sponges, and the dubia Roaches struggle to climb into something that would hold a sponge with a tiny bit of extra water. The poor Dubia would also want to cuddle under the sponge and would drown. Next idea was the cricket jello for calcium and moisture by Fulkers. That is great product for small batches of crickets, but not a bucket of 300 or more...too expensive. So, I found this Amazing product. The salt size pellets will become pea sized, so be prepared. A tablespoon will fill a soup bowl, no kidding! This nice thing is if the bugs don't make a mess of the bowl, you just add water every day, and the crystals swell back up, and don't break down. The bugs will not eat the crystals like they would a sponge. No mess, no worries. If you raise or keep bugs who will drown in a water bowls, these will work great! ... show more

small bag but you do not need much! These are so cool! I use them in some of my flowerpots that do not have drainage or my 4" or smaller pots since they need watered so muuch more often. These help those plants stay happy.
