I have a large terrace garden and, when mixed with potting soil, and sometimes other "lighteners," it does a pretty good job. I accept that it sometimes has foreign stuff and mold in it, but they are not fatal to my efforts.

I planted 12 different herbs from seeds on Good Friday 4-15-22. Also ordered seeds (brand Own Grown) from Amazon (see pics). The 1st pic was taken on Easter Sunday 4-17-22. Garden Cress was the first thing to grow. Although you can barely see the peppermint, everything is growing as of today Saturday 4-30-22. All thanks to Miracle-Gro Garden Soil mixed with Miracle-Gro Potting mix. Thank you so much for being my go to for lots of things just like this.. You are great Amazon. I am not sure about this product. It isn't the typical soil so I really don't know how good it actually is. It stays clumpy which I think is odd for soil.

    • Heavy, dense, needs amendment. Plus, fungus gnats in your face!

Very dense, very compact, and smells a bit like petroleum. Maybe they are located near an airport? The density means that it would be better mixed with sand, for good drainage. Since I mixed it with Miracle Grow potting soil, which is very dry, fibrous and lightweight, it's fine. Plus, I'm adding organic material and leaves and bits of branches from my compost pile. But next year, I'm adding sand. Here's my big complaint: fungus gnats. They drive me nuts. It's hard to get rid of 'em, and every time i use Miracle grow, I get fungus gnats. In the garden, the gnats eventually die out as I let the soil dry between waterings. In the house? Uh-uh. Not good. Gnats in the kitchen. Gnats in the bathroom. Gnats in your face. Gnats up your nose. I had to take all of my potted plants outside. I am not sure what I will do about the plants I want to winter over inside, like the pelargoniums. I am trying to get rid of the fungus gnats now, well before I bring the potted plants in, by adding a little dish detergent, neem oil and tea tree oil to the watering can when I water them. Looks like it's working. I also added a half-inch of cedar granules to the dirt on top of the pots. It's a fungus reducer. On the other hand, it's a good price, and Amazon delivers. Yayyy for Amazon Prime! I could never shlep that big bag home by myself! ... show more

Just added it to my soil today. Going to try to grow some jalapeños and mint…. Rosemary has taken off from last year when I planted 3 small plants using a mix of this soil. Its now turned into a huge bush and smells fabulous. Hope the peppers and mint take off too! I’ll update if/when they do (or don’t) ... show more
