  • Beware of gnats!
Great quantity for the price. Unfortunately the bags I received were full of gnats. Every time I used it to repot plants it had little gnats in it. I ended up having to bake the soil at 350 degrees for a few minutes to kill anything in the soil before being able to use it.

  • You Have To Keep Them Dryer For Them To Live. To Live
This product was all wrong for my succulents and Cacti. It's too wet and moist for the type of plant that doesn't require it. I ended up losing about 5 plants to over exposure to moisture. The soil composition is just not for the succulents and Cactuses that I had and eventually they bought the dust and I ended up having to throw them out due to root rot. I learned a valuable lesson from the experience which I won't repeat. Lastly in my opinion the soil was wrong. I will get back into the game and get it done right. I purchased another brand which is a lot dryer and drains better because they don't need a lot of water. Okay that's my take on it. ... show more

  • Fungus gnats!!!
As soon as I opened the bag, fungus gnats flew out! Maybe it was a bad batch or something, but my house was filled with them for months until I finally got rid of them. I read reviews warning about it, but I thought I'd give it a shot. Lesson learned!

  • Retains TOO much water to be labeled a Cactus/Succulent Soil
Like others have stated before me and most beginners will NOT know this as I did not myself until I learned the hard way, a LOT of these supposedly "cactus/succulent soils" are NOT made right for succulents and cactus. They retain too much water and the plants are not allowed to dry between watering which gives you ROOT ROT. If you use these kinds of soils you MUST add something like PUMICE to the soil at like a 50/50 ratio. Half soil Half Pumice or something similar. Otherwise you WILL LOSE YOUR PLANTS. The soil will remain wet for WEEKS and succulents/cactus HATE that. I am not sure why these companies continue to sell soil that is completely WRONG and it's very deceiving for people. You think you are GOOD TO GO and you get the soil, pot up your new plant in your perfectly breathable terra cotta pot, water it ONCE and then weeks later the soil is still wet and you wonder where you went wrong when your succulent is dropping leaves and DYING. Well it's THIS kind of soil that contributed to the death of your plant. SOIL IS EVERYTHING. And this one is ALL WRONG when it is all by itself for your succulents/cactus. Hope this helps someone and it prevents heartache and frustration for new plant parents out there. ... show more

  • Very deceiving title.
Description says 16 quart (2 bags) and no where else does it say how much you are getting, so for the price I was paying I expected 2 16 quart bags of soil. I could have bought two 8 quart bags from Home Depot for 1/3 of what I paid for this. Very deceiving. Not happy at all. Will definitely be contacting amazon to return this. ... show more

  • I believe in ... Miracle-Gro products! 😉
Miracle-Gro is my go to for all my plant soil and feed! This particular blend- cactus, palm, and citrus, is perfect for succulents as well! I actually mix a healthy portion of Miracle-Gro potting soil with some of my heartier plants also. Any pot, container, hole, or concaved object with proper drainage can be used to make your own unique plant arrangement. Once I found this particular mix my cactus & succulents have thrived tremendously, so much so, that I had to repot them a second time since spring (we're 5 days shy of autumn!) DO NOT forget: ~ Purchase or find small pepples, stones, etc to layer the bottom of your container ~ Don't overwater your "plant variety" once established ~ Make sure you have good- unclogged drainage holes ~ Don't let your "plant variety" sit in water ~ Most of all, have fun planting, arranging, and get your hands dirty! 🌵🌹🌱🍋🍃🌿🍊🌴🌺🧺💦🌞 ... show more

  • One package had been opened and taped shut
One of the packages had been opened in two places and then taped shut. It’s almost as if some dirt was removed to fit into the shipping box, or perhaps it was a return? The other package was fine. Update: I’m kind of concerned that the open package isn’t miracle grow dirt, or perhaps something for into it, because I’m seeing tiny tiny web strings on the plants I used this soil with. I hope it’s not getting spider mites from the soil. I used it on five plants and if they get ruined I’m not going to be happy ... show more

  • Only use this soil if you want FAST healthy growth!
Indoor house plants thrive in this soil! My son insisted I buy it for his plants that I was repotting for him. I balked because it’s more expensive than other plant soils, and I’ve used regular Miracle Grow for years and thought that IT was the best—but NO, I repotted 4 plants with “cactus palm and citrus”. and they took off! They were growing inches and inches each month, over 3 months my fig tree grew a foot! I’m hooked! ... show more
