I decided to buy this camera because I recently got more interested in taking photography a bit more seriously. Not to pursue it as a career or anything, but as a more serious hobby. Overall, the picture quality and features of this camera are pretty good for beginner/casual photographers. It is not going to get you the superior quality shots that much more expensive camera will get you, but the quality is pretty decent. The zoom is amazing. It allows you to get a close up on far away thing quite well. Of course, if you zoom in too much, the picture will look blurry, so you have to get the happy medium. The camera is very easy to hold, since it is light weight and fits in your hands nicely. A good upgrade from taking photo on your phone, if that is what you want to do. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is a good Camera once you get beyond the bad battery they send with it. I sent the first camera back because it would not work right out of the box, it said 100% charged but would shut itself down immediately, contacted Amazon they had me do a return and overnighted me a new one, and set up a UPS pick up at my house for the old one, I do have Prime. Completely charged battery on new one worked and took good pics for a few hours then started shutting down, same as before, so I went to I bought 2 new Kaster batteries and a charger, have been using them for 3 days now, no issues. ***Update - I am currently in Ireland and the camera is not working. The screen is not showing anything other than the menu options. If I try to take a photo, it's completely black. Tried different setting, removing the battery and memory card, and even did thefactory reset. Nothing. So it is useless 6 months after purchasing it.*** Bought this specifically for a trip to Africa and it worked very well. I made sure I had extra batteries with me and was able to take >2800 photos using a 16GB chip. My only complaint was that the screen is very hard to see in sunny situations. It would have been nice to have an actual viewfinder on those days. Zoom was incredible for not having to lug around a big lens! The two lion photos give you a good idea of how close you can get. I was disappointed when I tried to take a photo in bright sunlight and couldn’t see the screen. With my old model I could just switch to the viewfinder. This camera doesn’t even have a viewfinder. What’s the point of all that zoom ability, or wide angle shots if I can’t even see what I’m shooting?
