I bought it for spot lock. And I wasn’t disappointed. Yesterday was my first trip out. I fish fast shallow rivers upper Potomac and the Susky trail. It held my boat effortlessly, it seems well constructed like all of the minn Kota top line items. The foot pedal operates just like my fortrex, steers easier , really nice when you pull up to stow so your motor lays flat on mount. I held the boat in a spot manually and was using 7 speed, clicked anchor and looked on the screen, motor was running at 4. So I think it’s more battery efficient. First day so I didn’t make use of the many functions. I did try auto pilot, again so awesome. This ultrex allows you to feel like you are being guided. You tell the motor what to do and go about fishing. Cons: the sonar cables are a pain to route , I may just cut them off , I have a helix and I don’t fish lakes. The gas assist is definitely not as strong as on my fortrex. Finding the prescribed placement for the direction sensor is a big pain on a small boat. As far as price, seems like 2600 is lowest depending on your sonar requirements. Compared to automated pome anchor systems , this has many more functions. No brainer. But if I fished slow water or lakes maybe both ? ... show more

Purchased a new Skeeter FX 20 in 2018. A new Ultrex was dealer installed on the boat. After 3 years of light use, all the components of the Ultrex power steering simultaneously failed. One part was covered under extended warranty however total repair was $750. Two years later the same thing happened. Power steering failure. Replacement parts only have a 12 month warranty so I was looking at a $900 repair. I removed the Ultrex and put a Lowrance ghost on the bow. So far the Ghost has been great. ... show more

Bought this for my husband for our anniversary. I personally don’t know anything about it, but he raves about the darn thing. He said it was easy to install, great price and works better than anticipated.

Loving it so far and it does as advertised,only issue is vibration brand new from the box,i assume its the propellor,but price expectations should not happen at this level,advised is to turn the prop 180 which is still a bit meh as one would assume props would be ballanced from factory...
