  • I like it. Would buy another if I needed it.
Size: X1 Pro-470-Barebone
Love this little beasty for local AI. Load Linux and Ollama on it, configure Vulkan for the iGPU, give it a generous UMA assignment, and run the Liquid AI LFM models on it. This thing almost screams in that setup. And that's not including the NPU since AMD hasn't made any Linux drivers for it yet. For a home rig in that configuration, it is quite usable to experiment and just play around. ... show more

  • great build but broken audio for me
Size: X1 Pro-470-Barebone
This review really pains me because this is the best price for power ratio for mini pcs out there. Im coming from a beelink 6800hx with a 680m igpu, thankfully ithe old minipc internals were swappable for 32gb crucial ram at 4800 and 1tb ssd since this is BAREBONES. Now that last point there, "barebones" is the difference between a minipc costing up to $500-800+ more on the base price. So for 750ish for a barebones ryzen hx470 and 890m igpu this was perfect considering current prices of ram etc. The good: It probably has the best build of a minipc ive seen tbh internally and externally. I usually dislike the aluminum frame ones because heat chamber and poor airflow but the base is a massive dual fan intake with rear exhaust and the whole thing is basically a upside down motherboard. It sounds weird but the tests in linux temp monitoring were far below what normal usage was on my old beelink without the metal which was amazing for this. It worked perfectly (lol besides one issue) with fedora linux when swapping the old hard drive over and everything picked up as normal. LInux kernel is perfectly compatible with anything amd (besides z1 thanks to amd lol) so no drivers or anything was needed. the igpu 890m is an actual upgrade to the 680 (not the silly 780m they want you to think) with more processing units and as expected handled games much more powerful and emulation on anything cranked up including eden, shadps4, rpcs3 etc. -The BAD: The front aux port for a headphone jack did not work. I tweaked everything in bios i could and even installed windows fully updated with all amd chipset drivers and realtek just incase as well etc. Nothing could be done to make the front headphone jack work. To add insult to injury the bluetooth audio had this weird thing where it would basically have a 50/50 chance on reboot if the device wanted bluetooth to work cleanly and you will hear like static jumbled breaking connection when streaming audio. Tried with multiple bluetooth headphones and same issues persisted and were not duplicated on other devices. Attaching 2 pictures of windows and fedora linux, notice how there is no headphone option. You will see 2 monitors which do not have speakers show up, a usb unitek adapter which is a usb soundcard, and ryzen hd audio. That last part the ryzen hd audio is what the device sees for the built in speakers of the minipc. Truth be told the speakers are terrible and could have not be included at all but only those are recognized in the system. EVen pulling linux hardware data there was no mention of anything outside of the speakers to imply the front aux. The reason why this really bothers me is that I am certain that it is a hardware defect for my unit at least, which should not be the case for a $800+ shipped device or if youre unlucky enough to have paid with built in ram and ssd from the factory paying upwards of 1300+. At these numbers small defects need much better quality control. The other guess is a bios issue from the factory since bios version was first gen and this is the only model with built in speakers and Im wondering if the speaker is taking over the chipset for the audio port, but again this shouldve been caught by now and fixed before paying full price. This is not a economic unit, it is an expensive minipc even barebones which makes me worry for other components going wrong in the future.. ... show more
